Wow, the last new post in the DH forums was from Sep 2013?! (And it looks like I made the last comment in four of the last five posts in this thread as well..!)
Just curious if anyone had any recommendations on good DH builds for the new patch, taking into account all the latest nerfs made to the DH class in the last patch... :-0 This can be recommendations for either skills, equipment, or both. Thanks in advance..! :) |
Good DH builds for the new patch?

I don't play a demon hunter but my best friend is running this:
Entangling Arrow - any rune Elemental Arrow - Frost Arrow Companion - Bat Vault - Tumble Preperation - any rune Gloom - Blood Moon Passives: Cull the Weak, Archery, Tactical Advantage Also the new legendary bow Kridershot can be pretty build changing. It makes Elemental Arrow /awesome/.... if you are lucky enough to find one. |

Wow, Entangling Arrow, eh? Never would have guessed that. Will have to revisit that skill then, I suppose.
Yeah, I saw the specs for the Kridershot & it does appear to be an awesome bow for Elemental Arrow...! :-) Thanks for the advice! |

I main'ed a DH pre-2.01 and really loved the RF+gloom snapshot. Now that it's gone, my DH feels very squishy even though its toughness isn't that bad.
The build that @Anuiran suggested is pretty good. Evasive fire is also good in place of entangling arrow, if you like jumping backwards a lot. There's a rune on entangling arrow that gives extra hatred, so that's the most popular one. Companion - Bat is good if you solo, but Wolf is better in a group. I also like SS over Vault, but that's up to you. Prep - Punishment especially if you go with Wolf, and maybe MFD instead of Gloom. Kridershot is incredible, but I haven't found one yet, so until then I may semi-retire my DH until then. Personally I've found Wiz and Barb to be much more effective in 2.01. |

Thank you for the additional input, @woodssaxon! I tried the Evasive Fire build a long time ago & didn't enjoy it too much (kept draining my hatred too quickly). I too prefer SS over Vault, usually going for the Rune that extends it slightly longer (Lingering Fog? Can't remember offhand). Have not tried the Wolf companion yet; was always either bat (if I needed hatred), ferrets (if I was playing lower levels & wanted the extra gold w/o having to run around & pick it up, seeing as how I have zero pick-up radius bonus), or boar (for tanking & the additional AR & life regen), so should probably give the wolf a try. Although Gloom sucks compared to before, if you switch it out for MFD, won't that make Elite packs with Reflect Damage even more of a pain in the butt..? Or do u just avoid those mobs now? Just curious... |

Evasive fire is now a generator, so you don't have to worry about losing hatred. Also, I used the surge rune to let me keep backflipping. It's a fun build but you have to be very careful about the direction you fire in, so you don't backflip into a huge mob.
Usually for packs with RD, I use frost arrow, which procs enough LOH from the non-RD enemies to keep me alive. But enemies like SB destroy me immediately (even with gloom :( ). |

Evasive Fire was always a generator. In D3 1.03 it was a staple for undergeared DH to run away quickly. It's always been a pretty good skill once you get used to not backflipping yourself in to the corner where it drains all your discipline if you're not careful. I'll have to try it out again.

Oops, typo on my part... yes, Evasive Fire has always been a hatred generator. What I originally meant to say was that I disliked it cause it "kept draining my Discipline too quickly"... :-P
