Hello all,
I'm looking for advice on what i'm doing wrong with my barb. I just hit plvl 20 today but don't really seem to be making any head way. I would like to upgrade my belt and shoulders and bracers but with very limited funds i rely on the drops..... which to say is not really happening for. The only thing i think i've found with any sense of awesomeness is my IK chest and amulet. More specifically i am confused on the skills i should be using. i'm WW atm. I manage up to mp2 alright - after that though its a huge struggle. Currently i have been lvling mp0 trying to get through as much as i can. Any hints appreciated. |

@ClericID I looked at your profile but you aren't using the WW skills except for WW/hurricane. No Into the Fray and Sprint?
I think your shoulders and pants should be fairly easy to upgrade for some extra resist. As for doing more dmg, since you want to be WW barb your cc should be high, so getting more cd will be the goal. IMO, if your under 60k dps look for more LOH for survivability. After that its all about LS. |

For just advice on what pieces of gear you should replace, I think you should replace your IK glove and get a pair of rare ones with strength, all resist, crit chance, and attack speed.
I'd switch your pants to a lower strength one (around 100 strength) that has 200+ vitality and 60+ all resist. Switch your rare belt to an IK belt. Switch your BK ring to a rare one with crit chance, attack speed, average damage, and strength and vit if you can afford it. Switch your Sever to a rare dagger with crit damage, socket, life on hit/life steal. Aim for at least 500-600 dps. Switch your main hand to a rare mace with as high of dps as you can afford with crit damage and a socket. And yeah, as Razer said, you need to switch some skills up if you want to be a usual WW barb. |

Hey thanks all for the posts, really appreciate it.
I really enjoy D3 but am useless in planning builds and looking at skills and what will work best and why. Must be the numbers thing - i suck with numbers. @nightcrawler9 this may seem a stupid q - I thought more strength is ideal for a barb? getting rid pants for lower strength confuses me - as with the mace and dagger swap out? @razer22 - showing my n00bness here but what is LOH? - i just can't figure that out..... useless i know. And thanks for the skills tips, did that immediately and noticed the difference. @hdvision - that looks like 2 hours of my work day tomorrow i will be utilizing well. ;) Thanks again. |

@ClericID:
I'm guessing @Nightcrawler9's suggestion has to do with funding; you say you're strapped for gold. Thus, pants with high vitality but low strength should be much cheaper (it's the high primary & some vitality secondary that costs $$$$, the reverse is usually much more affordable). In an ideal world & if you're rich, you should obviously go for both. LOH = Life on Hit. LS = Life Steal. Both add hp to your character when you hit, but LOH is a fairly fixed amount whereas LS is percentage based off of your DPS. btw, your amulet looks a lot more suited for my DH than for your Barbarian; maybe if I find one w/ strength on it I can trade you for your dex one... hehehhe... ;) |

Yes, and no. More strength is always better, but the reason I suggest getting pants with really high vit and decent strength is that pants are one piece that you should stack as much vitality on as possible because they can roll up to 300. If you stack a bunch of vitality on them, that leaves you some more wiggle room on other pieces to not have to worry about getting vitality on them, like gloves. It all pretty much comes does to 100 strength, 200+ vit with two socket pants are really cheap and make other pieces cheap in the process. Edit: Okay, dropping the strength to around 70 is when they start to get cheaper haha. |

so yeah, shoulders, belt, pants and weapon (are you seriously using that 2hander?) all need an upgrade. Pick one upgrade you'd like and I'll get it for you.

You should be using the Run Like the Wind rune on Sprint. Check out this guide made by a fellow member in the past:

Cheers all again.
@NightCrawler9 That is just things i don't see or even am aware of. Makes sense. Will look into thyat then. @eleganthobo Actually no im not. I had a sever in my OH and a something else on MH that was working much better. But still wan't optimal. I just threw it on for a run to see the difference. Haven't changed it back. @razer22 that's briliant. Thanks for the link. will be endevouring to follow that. Sigh - the problem now is that im at work for 72 hours with now hope of playing. Frustrating. |

@ClericID I'm really excited to have you post here, I saw you were using the burning axe of sankis and i thought that was cool as hell.
I want you to make a fire WW barb, start using the rune that does fire damage with. with that axe i think you'll find it to be pretty effective. I'm actually about to go try it. Add me if you'd like, I can be fun sometimes, though i haven't logged on in days. |

@ClericID I'm actually doing a build guide for this now. Damn......

I played around with it today a bit. Worked pretty well from what i notived with what i have. Was quite cool. Can someone please tell me why run like the wind is better? As when using it monsters aren't hardly ever in my wake of tornado's and your faster for longer with marathon. |

@ClericID Run like the Wind is better because its crits can proc Into the Fray, and it does piles of damage to huge groups of mobs. Its actually what does a lot of the damage for WW barbs.

i think Sprint is the main damage instead of WW

Now i have seen this term "proc" before but am unsure as to what it means. Is it a more damage critical? |
![]() Posts: 444
It's pretty much how often a spell will activate a certain ability. On a wizard, some rune of Meteor used to have a 0.2 (20%) proc rate, which means that if I were to use Critical Mass I would crit with those meteors like 40% of the time or however much my crit chance was, but 20% of those crits would activate Critical Mass and lower my cooldowns. Different skills and different runes have different proc rates. |
