Dh Aps

Is there any breakpoint in dps for a dh ?

Example:

Like say 2.61 aps and 2.54 aps

Anything in between will be 2.54 and is a waste as it is only a paper increase in dps but does not actually does anything in actual combat .

How does aps really works?

Would really be nice if some one could come out with a guide : D

The APS breakpoint for wizards like you're thinking about is just for the amount of ticks per second the tornadoes do to proc Critical Mass. DPS doesn't have anything to do with it really.

The DH doesn't really have anything like that so the higher attack speed you have, the more DPs you'll do no matter what. There's no dead zone between certain attack speeds.

@MrFox, The difference between wearing +7% IAS Beckon Sail is physically noticeable no matter how much additional IAS I have and my best build can reach about 3.96 dps (with Enchantress) right now. A 9% Tal Rasha's chest would probably be noticeable compared to the +7% IAS.

If there wasn't a CC set bonus for Natalya's Set, the lowly ilvl 54 Legendary cloak increases my dps on all but the highest Dex Cloaks. Attack speed always matters. Given that Sentries don't Crit the Beckon Sail does practically always give me a dps boost over some of the best Dex cloaks. A high Dex Tal Rasha's would be a dream (Discipline/Hatred Regen aside).

Edit: Turns out no one wants High Dex Tal Rasha's chests anymore. Yah! I think that will bump up my aps above 4 (with a low dps 20% IAS Balanced 1H XBow so not actually useful).

@.@ .... that is pretty crazy lol ... I think to test the damage we need something like ghom mp 3 take note of the time taken to clear him ....... the problem is to make your base stats the same except for the ias % ......

@MrFox My full Speed Demon gear isn't actually legitimately playable since a Balanced Exorcist runs about 300 dps. I get up to 3.26 aps, I think, using my legit Sentry gear. With a Tal Rasha's chest, that will go even higher. Triple Sentry and Hungering Arrow at 3.3 aps will be a sight to behold.

Are you just suggesting a real world test to see if the results mirror the theory with regard to IAS? I don't think DHs have any tick-based damage outside of Vault-Trail of Cinders and Caltrops-Jagged Spikes and neither of those are affected by attack speed.

It's pretty simple testing the impact of IAS on its own. Open a ring slot, measure effective dps. Put on a blue IAS ring and measure effective dps. I don't think I'll have time to do it tonight, but I can put it on my To Do list during the week. It's really important for my build.

No they don't (at least none of the regularly used skills of a DH do), that's why I said there's not a reason to go for 2.56 APS instead of 2.54 because of a break point.
