To test out certain flipping strategies, I've been playing the auction house on European and Asian servers. While prices are different for each server, it is still a great way to find out what you can profit off of without having to use up one of your ten auction spaces on your home server. It can also be fun seeing how much you can make starting out with a few thousand gold. Has anyone else tried this out?

Foreign Server Flipping

I've only played on the Asian server once or twice while the US one was down for maintenance; never thought about using the AH while there. Something potentially worth exploring someday, maybe.
It really is too bad our gold/characters can't cross over to the other servers though.... |

Yeah I'd be interested to see if anyone from Europe/Asia plays the North American AH, then people could potentially trade foreign gold for their server's gold. |

Well, I am in Asia (Taiwan) but playing off of the North American server & using the North American AH...however, I don't think there's any way to trade "foreign" gold off of Asia's servers with characters on the North American server.... |

Well, for example, I could trade you gold on the Asian servers and then you would trade me the equivalent amount of gold on North American servers |

@arpger: Hmm.. I suppose theoretically that might work...? Though in actuality, I don't really see it being very applicable. Cause most people are going to be playing primarily on one server, not both, and thus they're going to have more gold on the server that they're mainly focusing on.
So in the example you post, it seems like you would want gold for your hero on the North American server; in which case, why would you have gold on your hero in the Asian server? It seems like you'd be primarily playing your heroes on the NA server, which is why you would want gold for said character--no? Unless you're buying gold on NA server via RMAH & then converting it to trade w/ someone in Asia, since there is no RMAH here. But even then, you're assuming a player here is (1) playing both servers in relatively equal amounts & thus (2) has gold to trade on one server while (3) really needing gold on the other server. Which still doesn't logically compute... |

I might be interested in buying gold on EU. Have gold on US.

Here's an idea guys.
If somebody plays on the US side, but say I have 10 spaces on the Asian side, I can lend those 10 spaces to somebody here and then just offload any gold or $$ made back to them. There will have to be a certain level of trust, and I'm not sure I'd do it with $250 items, but it makes sense for us to use our available slots to help others. When we get the private forum setup I think this is something that should be taked about early on. thoughts? |

This could be another good method for utilizing the foreign servers. What I was getting at before was that I have made over 50 million on both the Asian and European servers over the past week without actually playing a character. I have just been filling up my ten auctions for each server and making profit off flipped items. I know there are many good flippers here so I'm sure others could also succeed in making gold in this same fashion on foreign servers. |

... but the opposite. I've been gifted a considerable amount of gold by a friend on EU who's stopped playing .. but I'm on US. I could trade it out as fg on d2jsp but the dodgy traders put me off that site. Not 100% if I'm going to do it yet, as I am considering starting all my HC play on EU as I have much much better ping. Let me know if anyones interested. |
