I love my Demon Hunter and have cleared Inferno, but Vault makes me so angry when I use it, have landed in the new position but die from something that hit my position I vaulted from. Anyone else have issues with this? |

Yeah, this is the reason why I've completely dropped it out of my build. It isn't reliable enough to dodge, especially with bad affix champ packs. Playing from Australia so latency is most likely a contributing factor also.. |

it's a cool skill but sometimes I go trigger happy and end up dead due to 0 discipline when I most need it. can't seem to outrun certain elites too. |

I prefer using evasive fire with displace, it's essentially the same vaulting distance but you get a shot in beforehand. Plus I've never had the issue of being hit from the initial position while moving away. Although it is much harder to avoid elites at times, especially fast ones. |

This is exactly the reason why I don't use vault or evasive fire. Maybe is due to my latency (south america here, 300+ms always), but most common case is jumping and falling dead 30yrds away from the enemy. I've also got hit mid-jump a couple of times, and desecrator elites mostly come with a rubberband affix which gets me right back into the fire. |

Yeah vault seems to be kind of buggy. I stopped using it because I would double-tap it, vault once, and then five seconds later vault again straight backwards, many times to my demise. |

I'm not sure if its just the wrong timing or a bug, but i think the same with evasive fire. I use evasive fire with the rune, covering fire: shoot a spread of bolts that hit up to 3 targets for 125% weapon damage on each. When i'm using it and an enemy is close to me, so i automatically vaults me back, but the enemy still does the hit animation and i still take damage from it, it kinda frustrates me because then i half to use my potions to keep me alive. Now i'm not sure if its just me and my timing is just wrong or its just the skill sometimes. |

#11 Posts: 10 I've had this happen to me also, I would get a delayed first vault and a second immediately after, most likely I would take damage waiting for the first vault. |

I dropped vault very early in my DH's campaign. Its a lot of fun when it works right, but problem is that it works only when it wants to work. I've found Smoke Screen with the speed rune is an outstanding substitute to get out of hairy situations. |

I've also encountered this bug I think it has to do with your char being close to the monster when it starts its attack animation then even if you move away it still hits you, it can be very frustrating dieing from a melee hit from a monster half a screen away. Smoke screen doesn't have this problem because you will be invincible when the hit . I hope blizzard speeds up the attack animations but makes it so they can't hit you from so far away. |

happens some times to die while i'm vaulting... but same ting happened to my monk when i was trying Tempest Rush to escape messy situation a while ago, and i got rubberbanded back to the initial spot with no spirit left, now i quit the monk. Also sometimes i hit the vault key... and nothing happens. These are rare situations, i got them maybe once or twice per an act clear, but are frustrating ass hell, because you fell you didn't die of your mistake. Of course everything works when you try it in a safe spot, but when you need it most in combat... you'll see your face in the dirt some times :D . |

I'm glad I'm not alone in this, but it's not a bug. Vault doesn't - and isn't meant to - make you invulnerable. If you Vault through a Fire Vent while it's blowing, you'll take Fire Vent damage. There are two things I've done to improve my Vaulting, increase attack speed, adjust my playstyle. With both of those, I've started using it more than the more expensive SmokeScreen in many cases. @westonh is right about the problem simply being the attack animations. You'll Vault away and die 3 frames into the Vault just because the two animation frames aren't lined up perfectly. This could also be explained by any sort of latency in the connection, because your home PC is in charge of the animation on the screen, while the server is responsible for anything regarding hits and location information. You can help this by boosting your attack speed since speed of your Vault is impacted by your aps. Increasing your attack speed will gain you an extra frame or two to get away from the monster while he's swinging. The easier way is just to adjust my playstyle to Vault away before the monster does hit you. A good place to learn the proper timing is Belial Normal/Nightmare. All of his attacks are telegraphed in a blatantly obvious way and you can get a good feeling for how early you have to Vault to avoid the attacks. |
