So only the true obsessed people are still playing this game the way we do.
And every other week I find something new to focus on. The latest one came about oddly. I actually started playing a bit with my HC WD. Then decided to get some big life regen going for me and my pets. (Both to keep the pets alive, and to see if I can make myself a bit more latency resistant, since I frequencly play with 450ms+ latency) Then... before I knew it I was so focused on getting high life/s I discovered I topped the chart. Highest life/s WD in Europe on Diabloprogress (for now). (Ezundi) ![]() But then I decided to play around and test the strategy on my softcore WD as a viable survival skill, and there I got even more obsessed. Didn't stop until I had those four 1s on my profile. (Endugu) ![]() Now... to be honest life/s isn't the most overpowered stat. It's not bad, but even on low MP my WD can't just stand around and survive everything. I survive a lot, but still die occasionally. (And yeah, I deliberately stood around on fires and poison pools to test the limits of what I can survive in my SC char) And it's not really that hard to hit the limit either. There are more than 30 other people also on 5217. But then I got even more obsessed. I started trying to figure out what the theoretical limit for each stat is. Life/s 5217. Easy enough. And only 1 Legendary item is required. (Either Last Breath for WD or Skysplitter for any class) But then I tried to figure out some other stats and got up to: ![]() This is similar to some fancy work Anuiran did way back when. But I tried to include crafted and legendary/set items. This is NOT finished. I got very stuck, and distracted by Spectrum hunting. And very confused. (Also, note that I haven't gotten around to adding weapons at all) So far life/s is easy. 5217. Life/hit was also fairly easy, but it requires some very odd low level legendary chest and wrists to get to the max 6047. But for the main stats (Int, Str, Dex and Vit) things fell horribly apart. I couldn't figure out the max values for crafted items, although I'm guessing it maxes out somewhere between 327 and 350. And Amulets I couldn't figure out exactly if crafted or Mara's Kaleidoscope could have the maximum value, because I saw some very big numbers on Mara. Crafted 350 + socket = 412. But I don't know if Mara can go over 350 and have a socket on top of that. Anyways... I figured I'd share my obsession and work. Next for me is to try to get a top spot AND have a playable character. My SC WD isn't bad, and I didn't really spend a lot of money on him. But I feel I can do better. |
My latest obsession.

I love this. I've found that when I have a character at the top of any category that isn't Main Stat, Vitality, All Resists CC, CD that they tend to no longer be fun to play. In fact I had my DH at top attack speed for a while, and while I could shoot fast, 20k dps is no fun. |

All the wizards with 5,217 life per second are broken characters. People make them just so they can be at the top of the life regen list and they don't have decent DPS. I have the only life regen wizard on diablo progress with a half-way decent DPS.

Yip. I realise most people on 5217 is there for the number only. That's why I said my goal is to make a 5217 WD that's playable. Considering you are not using Skyspillter your life/s total is very nice. Max you can have without the weapon is 4618. My HC WD bought a new spiffy Tal-Rasha armor with 598 over the weekend. Happy about that one. |

I have a high DPS 598 life per second Skysplitter in my stash. I also have a pair of crafted bracers with life regen that give me more DPS but lack the eHP of the bracers I normally wear. I still need to find a really good DPS ring with at least 300 life per second though. That is the only piece of gear that I don't have life regen on. |
