Can these still be profitable? I never had the money to get into crafting, and now I see the plan prices have dropped a lot.

No. Craft is not profitable. 63 levels to make things impossible, all the recipes for things 62 level.
Weapons also create useless, as Blizzard improved the quality level drop items 61-62
Therefore recipes dropped in price

Doesn't that mean crafting weapons is better now though? I mean I bought a 6 property fist weapon plan and the first one I crafted sold for 500K so I made my money back. The rest have been crap pretty much, but still.

I read on the forums as people spent 20kk the craft, and no one thing could not sell on the auction house, because all things were bad.
Of course, if you have a lot of money and you do not know where to spend it, you can use craft

I'm still making money on Hallowed arms and gehennas.

You can still make money off these pretty easy. I do the helm, chest and boots and still make profit regularly. Just expect to have to spend 3-4m in order to make profit though that profit may be 100k or 100m.

Man, I remember doing these awhile back. Found a ton of 6 prop weapons/armor and I forgot I could sell them. I suppose it's possible to roll some monster, 100M item, but it just feels like the odds are too stacked against you for the cost. Granted, I probably only crafted like 20 items and failed each time, so I'm kinda bitter about it, but it just seems easier to just kill stuff.

I wonder when they will make crafting better... Think when they add pvp?

Crafting in D3 is more like a scam, you pay a lot to get nothing. Not worth it unless you are grafting legendary where they have set stats and a set range.

Crafting in D3 was ment like a gold sink... Similar to gambling in D2(even though i wouldn't mind seeing that back)

I've actually noticed over the last few days, that alot of the patterns(especially one handers) have been on the rise again. Albeit, only a few gold a day.

I wish crafting was a lot more profitable because thats something I enjoy doing. Sadly, it needs some work to make it more exciting.

crafting is too much work with all the clicking and hoarding of items. too much effort, not enough profit

Overall, I've lost money on crafting.
94k for a 6 stat helm. Half of them aren't worth putting on the AH. Some will make your 94k back. Very few will get you 300K+

But that's just my personal experience with it.

crafting items is a complete waste of time. The chance of getting a huge sale is pretty much 0

I once crafted 100 of the 5-property gloves, and wasn't able to turn a profit off of them. I still had fun doing it though! I should note, however, that I had crafted a few of them prior to my 100-glove craft-a-geddon, and one of them I was able to sell for a decent amount in the RMAH.
