Part of it is probably just the timing. The market is poor right now. The midrange market is entirely gone so building a bankroll is probably 75% grinding Gold, if not more. It's the new normal so get used to it. Back in the day, people were making loads of Gold just by crafting items, but those days are long, long gone.

The obvious first questions are how much MF are you running and which items are you picking up? MF affects not only the rate at which Legendaries drop, but also the rate at which 6-affix rares drop which are realistically the only items potentially worth 8 figures now. In fact, they're really the only ones worth 7 figures now. More MF is more Legendaries and 6A rares, straight up. If you've been running 300% MF on equipment all along, you're just a bit unlucky.

I'm "only" Plvl 27 and I've sold 1 item worth more than 10 million Gold since I started Plvling and I'm using a self-found pair of bracers I found that are worth around 15-20 million Gold (comparable bid price was 23 million a few weeks ago).

@wbz73

Would you like to link you D3 profile (via the "Account" op top of the web page) so that we could see your build/ MF/ DPS?

Regarding where I farm, I just posted the following in another thread. FYI I am a Tempest Rush Monk sitting at 147k DPS, I do only MP0 for efficiency sake.

So, the magic, I believe, apart from max MF, is to kill things fast and in mass and in a big consecutive stretch.

Nowadays I run my version of extended Alkaiser. Standard Alkaiser still the best for XP, but my focus now is more on MF hence I need spots which are also dense in mobs to extend my time with 5NVs. My route using Monk's TR:

1) Core, WP
2) Stonefort, backwards to Skycrown (for quick NVs) to town, WP
3) Tower a circle, WP
4) Rakkis Crossing (skip stores), into Field (skip cave), doing a big S starting from north anti-clockwise, WP
5) Keep 2, Keep 3 if convenient, portal
6) WP Stonefort, clear (I don't hunt for key unless it is in my way)

I have 2 different ways of grinding out gold.

#1. I can survive just about every encounter and I've only died maybe twice in the last two months or so on MP2, with one of those deaths due to lag. I spend the majority of my time in Act 3, but have done Act 4 a bit lately just for a change of pace. I'll run for about an hour or so as that's all the time I get by myself every 3 or 4 days. If I run Act 3, I'll do the following: Arreat Level 1, Arreat Level 2, Bridge and hit what-ever cave pops up as there's a few elites and the resp. chest at the end of the tunnel on level 2 of the cave. For what-ever reason, my legendarys tend to drop "in groups", so if I get a legendary anywhere in the run the I'll pop to keep level 3 and work my way backwards, completing all of the keep, where I generally find another legendary, though they aren't necessarily worth much. If I don't get that first legendary in the arreat 1, 2 or bridge then I'll re-start the game and go through the same paces. If I'm working act 4 then I sart at te begiinning and go all the way through the act to D and kill him as well before I wash rinse and repeat.

#2. Playing auction house tycoon. I've chosen the zuni pox rings as my area of expertise. I watched the market back in November for about 7 days and really got to learn the prices and where any opportunity was. Waht it comes down to is that you'll be able to purchase a ring on the GAH for anywhere from 250k - 750k, and that ring can then be re-sold on the RMAH for anywhere from $1.25 to $2.99. Well, at today's prices thats a minimum of almost 1M gold after backing off the $1.00 that blizzard takes. With enough patience you can find rings with better stats and sell towards the upper end of the range, making yourself up to 8M on some flips. Now, you can choose zuni rings, but there's at least 2 of us at this site working that market, and while I'm not sure how much room is in it, there may be some still. If not, choose an item, follow the item and make yourself some cash !!

@wbz73 There's no doubt you are unlucky. Don't forget to take into account that if most of your MF has been coming from follower and Paragon all along, you were running under 100% MF for the first 30 Plvls which is a lot of rare and legendaries that didn't fall.

Check out the thread about the max value people have found and sold. You'll find a few unfortunate kindred souls without any 8-figure sales there.
