Seriously, the first 5-10 pages of 1H weapons in the gold AH range from 49 mil to 2 billion! It's insane! Who exists that can spend a billion gold on a weapon? I can almost understand 200m for a jaw dropping bad ass end game piece, but someone paying 2b for a sword is beyond me. Also some of the really expensive stuff isn't always that good... It's like they're hoping some douche who just bought a ton of gold but can't read will buy it out.

Prices in the gold AH are obscene!

Looks to me like those who put up fantastical prices are laundering gold for whatever reasons. Or they have no space in their storage and using AH as storage LoL

Well, there are some people who have over a few billion in gold and would pay that much for the absolute best gear.

Well I think only the top end is moving to crazy levels, second tier stuff (fine for act1-2 maybe 3 inferno) is getting cheaper in some cases, esp for the weapons imo.

What I think is worst than high end items being extremely expensive is how decent items are becoming worthless.
I always filled my 10 AH slots before, now I can hardly find anything worth selling. Everyone who's still playing seems to already be fully geared and looking for perfect items. |

fenir is right, the top level stuff is the stuff in the billions. I wouldn't say worthless as getting stuff for leveling secondary and tertiary characters is getting cheaper and easier IMO. First character to 60 in about 80 hours, second only took about 50, third was just a bit over 30. Using the auction house I'm finding more useful for that reason alone, rather than look at the absolutely ridiculous prices on some of these items.

I am very glad the lower end stuff is dropping in price as it does indeed make those next few characters that much faster to run to 60.

Yes, and for other stuff besides weapons, bid are usually way better then buyouts. I put several bids on sereval types or gear and just watch how the bidding war goes, after some hours i can have an idea for how much the item will sell and i place a high bid accordingly, sometimes i lose good items, some times i buy good items for decent prices (4m+- for an item that had a 20m buyout). |

What would the stats on a 2 billion gold weapon even look like? I just cant comprehend some having that much gold.

Well, if the item isn't worth the price, people won't buy that item.
If you check Natalya' Mark, you can see people is bidding with these 40m+ ring. |

The real money auction house is just causing the gold auction house to inflate, and causes lower tier and mid tier items to become almost worth less.
But if you do find something in the high or legendary tier you can make some serious bank. |

Low-level items are still worth a fair amount, especially when compared to ilvl 61+ gear. 50K for a lvl 15 item with top roll? Even 6%MF rings are hot. 10K gold at least.

The real money auction house is just causing the gold auction house to inflate, and causes lower tier and mid tier items to become almost worth less. What is upsetting is that the "serious bank" you make tends to not get you very far, because good items are selling so high. It is a horrible endless cycle that keeps me playing this game. |

I tend to agree the prices are to high but they are dropping everyday so just wait for it

I believe there's people out there waiting to find an end game item and saving up billions of gold . There's once a person selling a crazy dagger for 2 billion gold and the bidding ended close to 23 billion gold ? . I don't know if he sold it or not but 23 billion gold is like 23000 USD . You can buy a freaking car or a downpayment for a condominium with it...
Just keep farming guys and sell the items coz after all , it's only a virtual item . |

Just trying to be patient and hoping the market will eventually calm down personally. Probably just play some other games for a while :)

I'm waiting for patch 1.4. I've saved up a ton of exquisite essence and I'm really hoping that the legendaries will make that price sky rocket so I can sell it to afford some of these damn items.

I can't imagine anyone is legitimately making billions of gold. I, like everyone else, have been farming like crazy for a long time, and haven't come close to amassing that kind of money. The AH is in a real bad place right now, hope it perks up after the patch as well.

Same, I guess you have to hope for that lucky ass 63 someday. |

Look if you are crying about items being too expensive...then clearly you have been farming efficiently or just generally a bad diablo player. Items are sellling for what they are worth and to me you guys just seem like losers who are just jealous. To gain maximum chance of getting good items hence lots of gold is by doing quick elite runs Act 1 2 or 3 by YOURSELVES which ever suits your standard. Each run should take around 40-60 minutes depending on how skilled you are at countering each elites properties and not wasting time. If you are one of those in public games...you got it wrong....

I disagree. I can't count how many times I've farmed Acts 1 and 2 and gotten terrible results. Maybe I get a few items worth a few tens of thousands. A couple 100K at best. It's more about luck than skill when trying to farm. I also don't understand why farming with others is "wrong." |

Well the reason you're not getting better item drops is because you're farming with others . Did you know that MF% splits between others when farming as a group ? . How can you possibly get a better stat item when you're at 0% MF ?.
I have never farm with others unless they have 300% MF and above and are as competent as me else I would just kick them out . I have farm for more than 250 hours already and I have probably sold 1 billion gold worth of items . All this with only 2 hours of my time on weekdays and 5 - 8 hours on a weekends . |

IMO the prices indeed are crazy, BUT...when you are rich you definitely want the best car ever built so you buy a very expensive one like Ferrari, Aston Martin or Bugatti (cars worth more then 500k $). You also know that on the market are still decent cars like BMW, Mercedes (100k piece) but you will chose the exclusivity. Thats the way the rich people get that status, they buy exclusivistic things.
Now back to the game. The rich players definitely will buy the most unique items, that no other player has or can get...The chances for a player to get the best weapon ingame is like 0.000001 or something like that, so when you will have that kind of weapon you will try to get the max profit you can, and put a price like 2bil in ah. But that weapon worth 2bil? No one will say YES, but you will always find a buyer :) [Because rich players exists]. |

The gold auction house was a real asset to the game until gold became available for sale in the RMAH. Once that happened, prices shot up to unreasonable levels. It is sad to me that caused it. I think it will correct at some point, but probably not too much in the future. THere are still good deals out there. People like me, who just want to get something for their gear will list it for reasonable prices and it will sell. You just have to spend some time looking for it.
