In a different thread, @arpger echoed similar calls I've seen from others to create an infinite random dungeon. While it has its pluses and minuses, I think there would be a lot to be said for a 255-level cathedral and/or crypt dungeon with an account bound, completely stat-free Legendary Amulet in a chest on the bottom floor.
It then occurred to me that we would already have this and a dozen other scenarios if there existed some sort of level editor. For the sake of the thread, we're going to say this theoretical D3 game has support for single player and 4-player LAN-play assuming everyone has the same level mods installed. How long would it have taken after launch to have a fully-playable recreation of Diablo 2's maps? Would we be in the final testing of a complete Middle-earth mod right now? Would Winter be Coming to Diablo 3? |
What D3 would look like with a Level Editor?

I would love this. Someone recreated Diablo 1 in the Starcraft map editor. Although it played like crap, it was neat.
I hope Blizzard includes their own endless dungeon at some point. |
