I was looking at my HC toon and I noticed that some of the pieces from my armor actually have a higher level requirement than the item level itself, does anyone know exactly why?

Why do some mid-level items have higher level req.

Just checked one of my HC toons that I played over the last couple of days, and bought a lot of AH gear.
About half of my gear the Item Level is lower then the Required level. The other gear it's the other way around. *Edit. Ok, this is very odd. I also checked another HC toon that I haven't played in a couple of weeks. On him all the gear has a higher item lvl than req level. |

The interpretation could be that item level still is dependent on area level but the rolls depend on the monster level. So if you get a roll on an item that has a higher affix level than the item level is then the required level will be the affix level.
Not that I know it but it comes to mind as I've seen many of these combos on both SC and HC. |
