My idea is this:

Softcore
MP10 only
NO Auction house

We could all make a new toon and play within a mini no auctionhouse league. It would be fun to play together and trade items to one another, things like that.

With the state of the economy, this could be hilariously fun.

My only non-AH character is a level 20 monk. I am supposed to be playing through all 4 acts with a friend of mine but we have not played together for like a month.

I suggest you give it a dry run on your own if you haven't already. I don't think Ironborn is as much fun as you think it will be. Rares are indeed very rare without NV and no MF, for instance. The stats and skills you have access to are limited and generally uninteresting. Progress is slow and death is frequent.

Don't let eco crush your soul. Just because he doesn't like a challenge doesn't mean you won't...... :)

I like playing self found, was playing that way from 1-60 with my wife on my first hardcore character. It's great if you only play those characters together and give all gear that drops to the character who can use it best. It's how D3 for PS3 will likely play out.

If you just like playing the game, gearing and leveling, it's a blast. If you like to min-max and do strange builds (looking at @ecocd) then it's not nearly as much fun.

MP10 may get less fun though, but ironborn (only self found) it's definitely fun. You'd be surprised how often a vendor can give you a decent upgrade.

I need to level a wizard, would be happy to do join in till 60 at least.

My only hero pretty much made it to 60 w/o using the AH & it was fun doing so, though I did get some help from RL friends at one or two points via crafting (i.e., they crafted higher level weapons for me to help me get through some acts in hell). It wasn't til I got to Inferno & was dying fairly frequently that I started to use the AH...

I'm already in process on a barb, level 5. Anyone who wants to join me on this and have a NO-AH mini-community would be well accepted. I think it would be more d2esque.

I've done this with my cousin, but i cheated using a hellfire ring with high avg damage and LOH, which made normal and most of nightmare fairly easy.

Its loads of fun, and you can still buy gear from vendors, which helps a lot in the early game.

There's nothing like going to kill Mira Eamon and finding that 3% attack speed 2-4 damage ring from that vendor down there.....

+800% damage for 8k? I'll take two please.

I played the beta from when it opened up until it closed for the actual launch, so playing levels 1-13 or up to Skeleton King takes me back. It actually is extremely enjoyable to replay that part of the game for me, and I'm pretty familiar with the top end damage rolls on weapons, max stats on most ilvl 8 items, and what vendors sell good items during which quest.

Having that kind of the knowledge about the entire game would certainly help a lot in the AH.

I am doing this but in hardcore and minus the MP10. Just found my first leg at level 22!

the ah kinda bored me of the game, i'll be back for this!

@Buzzel What are the proposed rules on Gold? Free to use with reckless abandon on vendors and crafting? I might drop my HC DH for it. I don't think I will ever enjoy HC so she's just taking up my last hero slot.

you are right, vendors and crafting are allowed as much as you can afford
the hardest part is no big fat gems in weapons... only what you gather

I used a big gem in my helmet to catch back up to mowuffe, but otherwise I like to gem from finds. Gold isn't a thing to worry about, the thing that holds you back is finding crafting mats. Vendors are fine. Its basically just do whatever you can to get through the game on MP10 with no AH, and nothing that came from the AH.

Its very fun, and the more people that do it, the more fun it will be.
