Damage reduction skills.

I'm looking at my monk passives, and wondering about Resolve.

How do you think this works against elites. (Actually anything with elite damage reduction)
Actually I'm more wondering about the special effects/affixes of the elites.

Say, for example, there is a poison pool on the ground. Is that still associated with the elite. In other words, is that also reduced, or only the actual base attack from the mob.

I see a couple of ways this can work. (Specifically with Resolve, that reduces enemy damage for 2.5s)

I assume hie base attack is reduced for all cases. But for the special effect I just don't know how it works.

I hit the elite and...
1) his special effects (Arcane, Poison, etc) does full damage.
2) any special effects do less damage for 2.5s.
3) all special effects already active does full damage, but any new ones he makes does reduced damage for the 2.5s.
4) all special effects already active does full damage, but any new ones made withing 2.5s does reduced damage until it expires. (i.e. it is created with reduced damage, and doesn't change)



Does anyone have any more insight to this?
