how do you survive in inferno

Seriously....I have 41k life and 25k dps and either a splinters build kiting everything or a VQ/bears build and i get slaughtered by elite packs in act 2 inferno.

Do I seriously need that much better gear or am i just that bad?

What are your resists / armor? Do you have +move speed boots? Mana regen?

Your health and dps are good enough for act 2 (though your dps could be higher), so if you have good enough values in the above areas then your spec needs work.

I've just beaten Belial on Inferno, fighting my way through act 3 now, using a VQ/Bears build. I used a similar build for act 1 and 2, tweaked it a little recently but nothing major. Similar stats to you, ~35k HP and 28k DPS.

My build atm is:
Splinters and Bears for attacking

Big Bad Voodoo - Slam Dance rune +30% damage
Soul Harvest - Siphon rune
Spirit Walk - Honored Guest rune
Fetish Army - Fetish Ambush rune

For elite packs what I do is stroll on in, drop a Soul Harvest for the buff, then hit Big Bad Voodoo for the buff. This'll take my DPS from 28k to something pretty big. Then I summon my Fetish Army which does 250% weapon damage on summon (per fetish summon), and then proceed to nuke down with bears. The Fetish and Follower distractions, combined with Spirit Vessel passive and Spirit Walk gives me enough time to drop most elite packs. It's very glass cannon though, and some packs are next to impossible with this build.

Unfortunately it's a build that's on a 90 second cool down, and between that you'll struggle to take on elite packs. I'll admit to skipping some of the more horrible affixes that appear on the OP mobs in Act 2, as it was quicker to drag them somewhere remote and die than it was to attempt to fight them.

Overall though, it's doable with your gear as far as I can tell.

My build atm is:
Rain of toads and Bears for attacking

Big Bad Voodoo - Slam Dance rune +30% damage
Soul Harvest - Siphon rune
Spirit Walk - Umbral Shock rune
Fetish Army - Fetish Ambush rune

I have 40k HP 15k DPS, 750+ resist 3k armour but I struggle, I recently changed to a 800 LifeOnHit build and rely on toads for continued healing while spamming bears.. if I got my resists/armour and dps higher I think I'd get the riht balance. Act 1 I am almost invincible with the LoH (which can heal faster than most attacks, like lava), but act 3 not so, thanks to the elites lava/poison on ground and my difficulty running away (I have no extra speed boots and controls are crap for movement).

Maybe I'll see if darts heal enough (edit: darts not even clost to enough healing)...

well i would love to tell you my stats but my HD fried by lightning last night.

Overall I am currently built for kiting and have 450+resists... i think 2800 armor....1.4k LpS....12%MS I destroy normal mobs with ease.....I get faceplanted by most elite packs in act 2....just frustrating as I can't build wealth if i am dieing so damn much. Act 1 is far from farmable for a respectable generation of wealth.

I'm also using Bears and the only way I survive is with gruesome feast and grave injustice. I have a large enough pickup radius that I can get all the health orbs from a pack by moving a very small amount, which also happens to regenerate my mana pool for more bears.

1.04 kinda nerfed bears builds IMO I cant spam as much as I used to, but I still do well with my same build above (finally completed inferno), except I swapped out fetish army for a garantuan instead, but I have lots of LoH (1200) and frogs (for both mana regen and healing via LoH)

i just started inferno yesterday on my witch doctor, and so far it's just been a combination of pets and unrelenting grasp with the rune that ups the slow amount to 80%. it's gotten me through pretty good so far. i imagine once the butcher comes around i'm gonna be in for a rude awakening.

Use pets and rain of toads to survive inferno

to get a good idea what other wds are doing i would check out diabloprogress.com and look over some of the top heroscore wd's and see how they are gearing GL!

Caution on mimicking the top WD's. They have the best gear, so they can skip some survival skills because they either have plenty of EHP, or melt monsters before they do damage.

Running the Grave Injustice build has quite high survivability, especially in act 3 where most mobs are clustered together in packs. You should definitely give it a try!

The only thing I can't figure out how to deal with reflect damage! They drive me insane.
