Why would anyone pay 10, 20 30 or more dollars for these items. I could understand if they were 1 to 5 dollars and maybe 10 for top elite items, but I won't be wasting my money on 99 % of these items listed.

Items are too costly in the auctions

Sadly, there are people out there that actually pay those prices, including the items at $250. Some people have money to burn and want to have the classiest build out there, so they don't mind throwing out the money. Personally i stick to the Gold Action house and haven't bought anything off RMAH but i can see why people do.
Some people dont have all the time in the world to dedicate to the game but still want the luxury of kicking butt, so RMAH is a perfect way for them to source the items they need |

I looked at the AH for lvl 5-15 items, and they're being sold for over 100k!

Supply and demand. If you're looking to rush a character and you have 80 million Gold sitting in the bank, would you think twice about spending 100k to get the perfect +Experience item? Rares can be relatively ... rare in Act 1 & 2 of Normal so fantastic ones are going to go for more than "good" Level 60 items, because there are a ton of those. |

Just because an item is listed doesn't mean it's being listed at the market value. And you gotta take into consideration the fact that people buying these $10, $20, or $30 items might not have invested any money to begin with (other than the cost of buying Diablo 3). One lucky drop and you can make millions in the GAH. Sell your gold @ 400k/$1, get $$ money to spend at the RMAH. There are people like me who don't have amazing gear, and won't bother with cashing in small amounts of real money through paypal (unless I get drops exceeding $100 or so). So people like us we spend those $4 or 5 in the RMAH for upgrades for myself or friends. I'm speaking for myself here, but I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. |

Thats good. In my opinion, you shouldn't. However, if someone does spend the money to do so, far be it from me to castigate them. Its their cash and I hope they found a good use for it. A lot of people balance the opportunity cost against the cost of the item. Will it take me forever farming to find this item or enough gold for it? Or should I just plop $100 and have it done with? |
