Feedback requested on possible website features

There is no guarantee all (or any) of this will be implemented rather this thread is simply to get a feel of what people people think about various ideas. You can of course suggest your own ideas also :)

Price Checker - This is something I have wanted for a while and I see two ways it can be done, both ways would have a simple tool interface where you enter the stats of your item. First off we could base it on the personal Sale History every user has on their profile. If the website ever got large this would provide the most accurate price checking as it would compare to all user sold items of similar stats. Simple moderating would stop any fake items from being added to the system, in addition we could implement a 8 hour wait period before the tool would use it as a point of data. Fake posts would easily be removed in that 8 hours by an admin.

The second way to do a price checker is a constantly updated tool where the prices for items are basically decided by me and the weight I give each stat on a particular item.

Community chat room - This one is pretty self explanatory just a place users can get together and chat at any time.

Skill Calculators - Again pretty self explanatory I am not too sure about this one as users can already use the official Diablo calculator and link their builds from there.

D3Pedia - A custom made wiki of sorts where you can find information about everything Diablo 3 related - Lore on characters, monsters that spawn in zones, database of all items, all the randomly generated map layouts, and everything else! Users could submit content but it would not be "live" until an admin approves it.

Lottery System - Every two weeks we would host a D3RMT lottery where users can buy a ticket for say 50,000 - 100,000 gold entering themselves to the lottery and increasing the total pot. I would personally start the prize pool at about 20 million. One winner? Three winners? How would you guys like a lottery to be run? Note this would run along side the monthly "awesome" contests and not replace anything.

These next features are already in development but if you have any feedback please share!

Website Achievements - A system where you gain points for everything that you do on the website. Achievements reward you with ingame and website rewards. Got your community guide spotlighted? You just earned yourself 25 million gold along with an achievement unlocked. Got a lot of highly rated posts? You earned yourself a custom forum title and perhaps less time waiting between posts. Even simple things would reward you with points and at certain point thresholds you would unlock a prize.

250 points - Increased limit of screenshots you can upload to your profile

500 points - 1 of every Radiant Star Gem

Community hub - A section of the website where users recent videos, pictures, sale history and recent earned achievements can be viewed. A thread already exists on this topic and shows off a screenshot of how it looks - check it out here.

This is a very important feature in my eyes. Say what you want but Diablo 3 is indeed a game about numbers and having easy access to numbers matters. It doesn't need to be big to start with, but just things like monster levels, max stats, etc... are a huge boon.

Regarding the price checker, I think having it pull averages by some sort of community database would be better than having a single person decide value.

I like the idea of a lottery! Possibly have a total prize amount running in header and a daily updates on your FB site.

for the Skills Calculator, what would be really cool is to read the info from the battle.net profile, and have some sort of DPS calculator/optimizer, that tells you how much more DPS you get by adding 100 Dex, 5% Crit Chance, etc.
But it sounds quite complicated to implement, as it probably involves OCR to read the stats from each slot.

for the Chatroom, I am not a big fan of it as people would probably post less on the forums if there was a chatroom.

for the Price Checker, I am fine either way as long as we keep in mind that prices change sometimes quickly and the info collected by users can become obsolete.
so I guess a mix of both would be better. And anyone with extensive experience of AH can help Anuiran with the price check.

and for the other ideas: I like them a lot :)

these all look pretty great to me, they would all make a great addition to the site and would all be a great step toward making the whole game more community based in general

i especially like the idea that achievement awards, in game achievements are pretty unspectacular and you would think in an rpg achievements would have some tangible benefits

anyhow good on ya glad i found this site

I really like the idea of the crowdsourced guide idea with the D3Pedia.

As far as the price check deal goes. There's problems with both methods as others have pointed out. User submitted prices can quickly become obsolete and a single person deciding a set price may not reflect actual market price at any given time.

Perhaps a publicly approved item scoring system might help. If we could assign a base item value to an item based on item stats. With bonuses given to complimentary stats. Then maybe (and this is just conjecture at this point) it might work well as a currency conversion system where in an item score equates to X amount of gold giving someone a good ballpark figure to work with.

Just throwing an idea out, character blogs. Scan users character profiles at a set interval and changes in items/achievements/level etc are documented and we get a nice timeline of events for our characters.

Chatroom - Definitely an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how often I would use this.

Skill calculators - Like you said, the official site has an adequate tool. I wouldn't see much added benefit to having the same thing here unless more functionality was added to it.

Lottery - This would be fun, and I think somewhere around 50-100k to buy in is fair. I think there should be at least 3 winners (perhaps more depending on the popularity).

Website achievements - I like this idea the most out of all the options, but I suppose that's because I'm a bit of an achievement addict.
