I play monk most of the time, so the affixes that are probably the "worst" for me are things like molten, arcane, and desecrator. These probably wouldn't concern a range class as much. But something like, say, reflect damage, would probably bother a glass cannon a lot more than me. Has anyone seemed to notice, given the number of possible affixes, that elites seem to have a disproportionate chance of having "bad" affixes specific to each class? I have no specific data that would prove this; I'm just wondering if anyone else has also experienced this. It would make sense to me for several reasons:

1) Melee and range operate completely differently. One affix difference can turn a complete "roll" of a pack into something much worse.
2) I think Blizzard would want to keep the difficulty level "consistent" for all d3 players. Even if most people are using DHs or Barbs, the class specific elites would ensure a consistent level of difficulty.
3) It also raises the difficulty to give somewhat more of a challenge. My stats allow me to pretty much obliterate anything without molten or arcane. But just having one of those things can still instagib me pretty quick or really slow down my progress.
4) It encourages Co-op play. A mix of heroes would perform better against elites with specific affixes.
5) It doesn't seem like something that would be difficult to program/break the game. Since it's class specific, everyone will experience the same "increase" in challenge.

Of course, they could just keep it completely random and I have no way of knowing otherwise. If I had to estimate, I would say at least 50% of the packs I encounter have molten or arcane, which is somewhat higher than expected given the total number of affixes.

I heard that it's random, but elites get a higher chance to get the affixes you die to more often.

I'm pretty sure the elite pack affixes are rolled randomly... think it's just a psychological thing where you notice the ones that cause you trouble more than the ones that you can breeze through.
