Serious Price Undercutting

Anyone noticed very fast and furious price undercutting for items since 1.04? And now I am wishing for some minimum listing time!

I have to be honest, i'm undercutting every sale by the next nearest item by 25% minimum just to get it out of my stash, i'm very certain i'm not the only one out there doing this.

With the 6 fields to search items, people are searching for what they specifically want, so its harder for people to trade off their junk items since they wont even appear in the search, prices have to drop, which is great imo.

I'm always undercutting. I sell Hallowed Defender items for 1 million even if they roll with sockets and/or dps above 1k. Level 63 rares that aren't too special I put out for 50k to 100k. I also want things to move out of my inventory and I figure if its 100% more than the merchant will pay, its a good return. The only exception are godly items which I first put on RMAH and then move to AH.

Having had little luck on the Buyout prices lately, I'm putting things up for low min bid auctions. It may take 36 hours to sell, but i can set it and forget it. If they don't sell at all, I know for certain they're worthless. Like Khan, if they sell above Vend, then I'm ahead Gold on the deal. I've discovered while it's not necessary, it generally helps to have auctions timed to end in the evenings when there are most people surfing the AH.

I love it when the server is scheduled to go down for maintenance. :)

Can't say I've really noticed a big difference in undercutting since 1.04, but maybe the things I sell are just in slow parts of the market. Things are definitely slower during the week, though.

You have to undercut your items in order for them to sell unless they are pretty godly.

Since the patch , everyone seems to focus more on collecting th legendary items leaving the rares mostly useless.

Ahh well , how often do legendary items drop anyway ?. I only played 60 hours and only got 3 ?. That's with 300% mf gear.
Sad statistics .

Even at like 50% of what similar items are selling for, unless it's a legendary, it seems difficult to sell anything.

No kidding, I had a helm (100 int/12% life, 77 AR, socket) that would have been worth at least 20m, couldnt even get it to sell for over 10, got 5 in the end. 1.0.4 has killed the GAH, oh well..

It killed everything! GAH and RMAH! prices have droped across the board. In Eu, people are undercuting gold.. it went from 1.40 per mil to 1 per mil
Most gems below FS, are worthless to sell on the rmah. I'd make more selling them to the vendor.
Gear is uber priced, at least what i need. What i want to sell, i can't sell...

If its not something I can use or a legendary piece, I usually blow it out at ridiculous prices because I pick up so many things. It gets listed and almost immediately I get a sale. More profit than vendoring it or waiting for someone to bite on a larger price.

As an example these three I just sold for 50k each.

I made it too, because the market seems half dead these days. The most problematic thing is that gold price was really low recently, maybe because of bots? I sincerely hope it will go up again, since I need to cashout some money. :(

What's wrong with undercutting? You can pretty much relist an item at any time, so if it's not selling, the price is too high.

Personally, I think it's great that most items are "crap". Why? Because that means the "end-game" is easy to obtain; even decent items are going to sell really low. The end-game being, beating Diablo on Inferno difficulty. However, I think most people have already done that or did it quite some time ago. What that means is that anything better than those items is "for show". These optional items are going to be EXTREMELY expensive because 1) they are hard to find and 2) everyone wants them. So you have a situation where the "necessary" is very easy to obtain, the "luxury" is very difficult to obtain, and everything in between has pretty much no purpose.

Undercutting in the marketplace are expected to happen all the time. I also don't get when people complain about item drop rates and want them increased. But then complain that the prices of items go down. They go hand in hand.

RMAH still makes sales for me but its definitely a hell of a lot slower than it was. Gold being purchasable made the biggest change to things. Slaughtered profitability

I've had the most success selling things around the lvl 40's and reduced price items. It is a rather undersaturated market because everyone wants the godlies , but max out your gf and run nightmare, grab the rares and i've got roughly 35% successful auction rate prices 10-50k per item, 50k seems to be the hard cap for leveling gear.

Its tantamount to a steady job vs day labor and playing the lotto.... nightmare vs inferno farming.

I've been preaching that for months.
it works really well and is not nearly as frustrating as farming inferno, getting huge repair bills, and no reward at all after ID-ing all the Rares.
I also got the best results doing Act II/III Nightmare.
Normal works well too if you can get some +Exp Rare gear, but Rares are really rare there (even with high MF), unless you get 5NV stack.

Ive been thinking about running gold find, and bypassing the AH. But damn, i feel like after all that time you would regret not doing infero. Also can you get paragon lvls in nightmare?

Yes, you still get exp even in Normal. It will just be horrendously slow obviously.

Also, imo running gold find might not be worth it anymore since gold prices are dropping faster than ever as there's more and more supply of it and nowhere to really use it/remove it from the economy.

I don't think you get any exp from nightmare at lvl 60, however, I could be wrong. (I was, you get exp, thanks Mohecchi) But it wouldn't be worth it if you actually wanted to level. I'd just keep leveling and eventually something good will fall into your hands. Also, I wouldn't hesitate to try to snag deals on the AH, even 20 minutes a day can land you some pretty nice flips and whatnot.

Yep. I've been undercutting sales by almost half. Gotta move those items fast.

The limit of 10 slots is what really causes the undercutting. If your first set of items don't sell then the next set can't be put up for sale either.

In order to get my items to sell and keep my auctions flowing I have to undercut items. With the new cancel function, there's no reason to let simple rare items sit for 2 days.
