guess i read that wrong... however, i don't always believe what they say

"As previous mentioned, this means that near-infinite CC strategies will still work. We're okay with these strategies remaining viable, as we love how powerful it makes players feel. (That said, we will continue to keep an eye on these strategies and may make some changes in the future if we feel it will be better for the health of the game.)"

they mentioned keeping an eye on "these" strategies twice in this article... i smell nerf coming for cm builds

Based on what they described, I feel like it would actually be a buff to CM WZ.

Elites will start out at 0 resist, and increase up to the current value. This will make it so much easier to get the perma-freeze started. The only thing they weren't too clear on was whether or not trash would be getting buffed to have this same resistance, or if they'd still be weaker to CC than elites. Even if trash technically gets a buff, I think this will be an overall buff since elites should be easier.

On the other hand, they might introduce a nerf later since they're keeping an eye on it, like you said. I think a nerf could be a good thing, if it's reasonable. As it stands, I think this change could make it viable for someone with way lower stats to permafreeze, since you no longer have a difficult windup beginning.

interesting... i read it completely the other way... basically the first frost nova will be the full length of frozenness (just made that up) but then it would get progressively shorter with each time you cast + duration... i read this as negative, and if you don't have high crit chance, you won't have the time to cast frost nova again...

You read it correctly, in that they will progressively be frozen for shorter time, but they will have a max resistance of 65% to CC. That means we need to freeze them for a total of 6.5 seconds, and then our freezes will be 65% less effective. The way the system currently works, our freezes are already 65% less effective from the start. So basically, for the first 6.5 seconds our freezing is buffed.

I should hope so. I'm very nervous about what they'll do to anything regarding CM, ET, or FN.

My function in group play is to lock mobs down. If I can't permafreeze in some manner, I'm useless.

Same. I think part of the reason my friends and I are able to easily farm A3 is because I'm able to keep everything frozen. I've tried my Archon build in a party of 3 and my DPS doesn't quite cut it... so I'm relying on keeping enemies frozen

They're nerfing us again without a doubt. We were told that our proc rates are being nerfed because they feared that the procs would be overpowered in conjunction with the new legendary weapons but they turned out to be lackluster. Overall it's quite clear that Blizzard wants to nerf the CM build.

I really want to play a CM wizard, it looks fun as hell, but I'm holding off on making any purchases for such a build until we see how 1.0.5 shakes out. Despite what Blizzard says, it's clear they're uneasy with the CM build and considering that the gear for it to work right is somewhat expensive, I'm sitting on my hands and sticking with an Archon build for now.

I think I'm calling it dead. Meteor works ok but the procs are nowhere near where WW or SC had been. Looks like its all archon for me now until something else is figured out. Archon is probably the worst thing to run in public games as you need to hog all the kills to keep it up and move as quickly as possible across the map to find more enemies to feed your timer.
