Does anyone know if people ever buy crafting materials in the RMAH? For example selling a Tome of Secrets is $0.25x1 and the average sale price says that it sold for that amount that day, but I can't seem to sell mine. Should I try to sell in small quantities only or does that not matter?

Trying to sell mats on the RMAH doesn't work, because the exchange rate isn't remotely close to the Gold AH. You get 575k-600k Gold for $1. Tome of Secrets costs 300 Gold. It would take 2,000 Tomes of Secrets to make 600k Gold so each would cost $0.005 ($1 / 2,000 tomes). Blizzard doesn't let the price go that low, so they'll never sell on the RMAH. You're not doing anything wrong, Blizzard is.
If you want to sell mats, the only chance is a Fiery Brimstone, but even those should be $0.10, not $0.25 so they'll be a hard sale. |

I'm 99.9% sure crafting materials will never sell. It just makes no sense to buy them when you can simply buy gold to buy them for much cheaper (in case you need 1 million ToS and don't have the gold for that).
From my experience, the only thing selling on the RMAH is either REALLY top of the line gear or moderately strong gear at rock bottom prices. It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense to sell something at $2 though because the transaction fee is $1. That's 50% of your profit! You might as well sell the item for its equivalent gold value and just sell the gold (about 28% profit loss). |

I've seen a screenshot of some tomes of secrets being sold on the RMAH, but thats the only time I've heard of them actually selling. I've tried many times without luck.

I think the supply far exceeds the demand on this one. If you manage to sell your tomes, count yourself among the lucky few. I've put them up for 3 weeks when 1.04 came out and didn't even sell 1 tome the entire time. |

Currently not viable on the RMAH. Prior to and the day off the patch I made a killing on brimstones in real dollars. Right now, I would suggest against the investment.

ya but who knows maybe they will lower the price in the coming patch like how gold is able to be sold for under $2.50/mil now.
