I'm currently farming act 3 keeps and map before Azmodan. Problem #1 Getting 1 shotted by a lot of monsters. I use smoke screen and vault to kite along with shadow power for reflect mobs. I notice my discipline drains really fast during fights. Does adding min of +10 discipline help a lot? Anyone know if discipline regens if you have a higher pool amount?

I know my boots arn't that great. Found them with my WD a while back and keep them for the +12 movement speed +5% attack speed.

You're already geared up pretty well, but your HP is really too low to be farming Act 3. My armor and AR are similar to yours, but I'm up at 34.5k life. I can take 1 hit from just about anything in Act 3 and much of the time I can take 2 hits. That extra hit makes all the difference. If you're trying to kite, you'll definitely want some additional discipline. I'm at 57 which is probably a little overkill, but if you can get to 42 that's 3 Smoke Screens. Add Preparation and you have 6 Smoke Screens. That's really going to be worth dropping a little dps.

Also, if you're practically always getting 1-hit, you probably don't need the Battles Scars rune for Preparation. Probably switch to Backup Plan until you find you can take a hit.

"That extra hit makes all the difference" <->That sounds good. I can definitely drop damage for more survivability. I just need to find out how expensive that extra discipline is going to cost me.

I think even with more survival stats I woulds till be using Battle Scars for emergencies. Is that 30% as bad as it looks? I guess I can test it out. I remember one time I had to run across an elite mob. They hit me and did 3/4 of my life. I popped Preparation (Battle Scars - Heal) and as I popped Shadow Power (Gloom - 65% Dmg reduction) an arcane beam popped up right on me. It did close to 60% of my hp, but I survived and killed the elite pack. I wonder how this new patch is going to effect Demon Hunter ability usage.

I've done about 50 or so runs of keep (1-3) and map before Azmodan. I sometimes don't die at all, but then some runs its like 3 deaths a minute.

Edit: I went ahead and changed my quiver with one with +10 Discipline along with a +2.5k damage increase. The extra discipline helps so much.

More HP would definitely help. I have the same if not less all resist and about 200 less armor, but 10k more hp. I can generally tank some things in the keep depths, and survive at least one attack by most things (including phase beasts. 2-3 if I'm lucky).

I would recommend trading the chest out with something with high vitality (170+ whether that be through sockets or raw).

Your boots can get up to 300 dex, so I'd sell those for something with at least 150 + MS and all resist. Vitality is a bonus.

Your quiver should also be a fairly easy upgrade. Perhaps a slight dex downgrade which can be made up on the boots, but you can get higher attack speed and crit chance. Vitality is a bonus.

Your pants I would try to get something with some all resist and the same or more vitality along with dex. This way you can lose the resist on your rings/amulet and be able to focus on crit chance/damage.

Once you get your vitality/resists up on your chest/pants, I'd recommend getting an amulet with the same or more dex along with crit chance and possibly crit damage if it's in your price range.

Shoulders could use some all resist with the same stats. Might be able to lose the life % if you get enough vitality on your chest/pants.
