I was wondering if anyone had any alternative builds for DHs that would provide high discipline regen without using Natalya's Legacy set. Here is my current Build. I use Multishot: Suppression Fire as my main discipline generator. I picked Vengeance to get additional discipline from health globes instead of Night Stalker because I found it more consistent for discipline regeneration even with 41.5% crit chance. Finally, Preparation: Focused Mind because I have a low discipline pool (30) and this rune will give me enough discipline that I need to pop Gloom often enough to finish elite packs when I run into them. Any suggestions and constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/esteban-1551/BlowSheetUp/5296017 I dropped smokescreen long time ago and learned to play without it. I think depending on smokescreen is the main source of discipline problems. There is only maybe 1 combination that will kill you, chain jailing+frozen+hard hitting champions(phasebast/skullcleaver/tremors). I have 36k hp, 300+ all resist, 50 discipline and can farm fine without legacy nats. I agree using vengeance over nightsalker as a passive. Nightstalker just plain sucks right now, i think they need to double the discipline regeneration from it. I am not sure what build I'm gonna use after they nerf trail of cinders. I basically alternate between using vault (+gloom if i am rolling through a nasty pack) while my crit builds up, multishot when I'm low on discipline, picking up health globes to gain back hatred/discipline, until i come across an elite. To kill an elite simply takes 1 gloom + 1 vault + 1-2 cluster arrows. Right now, this does so much damage (2 mil+), that I can't swap to my magic find gear unless I purposely single out/miss some targets. These builds also depend on whether you want to maximize your elite kills per hour, or your xp per hour. For killing elites, i will drop steady aim for tactical advantage, and skip trash mobs until i run out of discipline, then use multishot to get it back. when you encounter an elite, use whatever discipline you have left and then use preparation. For getting exp, its basicall mass multishot/picking up health globes using vault and vengeance. and same strategy as above for killing elites. The reason i use sharpshooter over archery is because for my particular gear, 3% crit is almost as good as 50% crit damage. it only takes 1 second for sharpshooter to give me more damage than archery. For vengeance I recommend getting at least 1 pickup radius item. shoulder/pants with pickup are pretty cheap. |

It seems a little obvious, but you could also get some more Discipline. You'll notice the difference between 38 and 30 Discipline pretty quickly. You'll notice both esteban and I have bonus Discipline items and I think you'll find that very common amongst most DH running Inferno. I doubt they'll ever create another way to increase Discipline regeneration so that's probably the best recommendation I can give.
Blizzard changed the proc coefficients of many of the DH abilities in 1.04 which is why you've seen such inconsistent results from Night Stalker. I think it only procs around 50% on a critical hit from standard Hatred Regenerator skills. The chance of getting that bonus discipline drops pretty far when using skills like Multishot, Strafe, Sentry etc. |
