What I bought with the 100 mil

Firstly, thank you @anuiran and the staff at D3RMT.com. This is truly a great place to meet positive minded players and share ideas/analysis (@ecocd has priceless numbers, pay attention to him/her) without the usual sarcasm or trolling.

Secondly, being geared rather well, I was at a bit of a loss to figure out what to do with the the money (all bosses easy and I only farm A1 for the gold). I thought of just investing the money into jewels/mats and turning a profit here and there. However, I felt this was not true to the spirit of the giveaway. I'm sure the intent was to fund a player so that he/she may try to get to the next "level".

I decided to try for something interesting knowing full well that 1.0.5 will bring buffs to everyone via a 25% reduction in monster damage. I have always been a tanky wiz with low DPS but @methrin keeps talking about DPS this and DPS that...

So with this new gear, my DPS has gone up from 50k to 86k (both unbuffed figures).

As you can see, for the sake of cost, I made interesting sacrifices by not having crit chance on my Zuni Pox but getting crit chance and damage on my gloves instead (far less expensive). On the gloves, I eliminated my primary stat, INT, as it would be less expensive without INT knowing that it would be a bonus for having both Zuni Pox and Zuni Marrow. Speaking of the Marrow, I tossed my Tal Rasha chest for the Marrow (yes I took out the VIT jewels) so I could get some All Resist and better Armor. To make up for the loss of Attack Speed (Tal Rasha had 8%), I purchased a Witching Hour belt. This last piece is edgy for me as it is not safe (my normal belt is much more robust). This belt is all offense with no defense, something I dislike.

Feel free to comment, ask questions, etc.

Thanks again!

PS Yes, I did have to throw in a little personal gold to make this work. But thats capitalism!

That is pretty spectacular. I have a feeling you're going to be one happy Wizard come 1.05.

Prelim tests have shown that I may have to dump this belt. Survivability has been compromised a bit.

I love the fact the belt has attack speed and crit damage... I want one!

@anurian Those belts are the envy of all. Theyre too good.

@Khan , I'm glad you noticed that thats all @methrin is about. Its funny and awesome. I think that you've used the money well and with the intent that you should have had going into it.

I'm proud of you, son.

Congrats @Khan.

To bad there is no Zunimassa belt to grab that 55 extra res all. The set boots would have been a possibility, but those Ice climbers you have make up for that extra res. No extra movement speed but the only time its annoying being slow is when your in a multiplayer game and everyone else has the bonus I guess.

@buzzell Hopefully, I can keep this high DPS thing going and breach 100k unbuffed without losing my tankiness.

@mindlessone I keep a pair of movement speed firewalkers on me just in case I need the speed and walk back to a certain position (dying at the end of a map because I chased a treasure goblin into a firechain/desecrator pack).

@buzzell I think you're right! Duh. Maybe I just kept these because they had MF find.

@buzzell Super MF! The extra find adds a flat 50% find.

@Khan Above the cap!? NO WAY!

Get them while you can, because I'm pretty sure the Firewalkers are bugged. They can go over the cap for base stats, as well, I believe. That's why it seems like there are a ton of them running around despite their guaranteed stats not being completely overwhelming. I think Firewalkers that don't go over cap don't sell for a ton.

Oy! Just field tested and I'm going to have to resell the Zuni Chest and Ring. Found a combo of stuff laying around my stash that brings my DPS over 90k unbuffed. That belt does make a hell of a difference!

That witching hour is beastly. I don't know what the current feeling on two-handers for wizards is, but if you are a monk, it is probably THE strongest item. Why? Because the hardest hitting weapon in the game is Skorn, a two-hander. The down-side is its slow attack speed. So having 8% AS for free is going to give you nearly 8% more damage overall (because the other modifiers will remain unchanged). Witching hour + AS items + heavy Skorn is going to give you near the best damage in the game (the only thing that would trump that is uber dual wield with uber trifectas everywhere else, but that's like, 10-20 B).

Oh yeah, the CD doesn't hurt either.

@metta I picked up an inexpensive Skorn with life steal and it popped my damage over 140k. However its so slow, even with an Andariel's Visage, that I don't think its viable. I'm going to try and make it work maybe by buying some Inna's pants but I'm doubtful.

@buzzell Yeah, been trying the various builds and even got a mempo. Still not as good as previous. I'm switching to archon for now. Facemelting is pretty fun with it.

@ good to hear that youre powerful enough to play any build you want. I recommend the teleport rune for archon btw, its good for movement and keeping archon active.
