I played mine all the time before D3 came along. If you decide to get one, pretty much everyone has huge sales on games for BF. You can get a lot of great ones for $10-15. If you need any suggestions I have plenty to recommend. It's also pretty convenient as a blue ray and netflix player. |

We have both Xbox and PS3. I like the PS3 for the Blue Ray player but thats about it. Xbox has a more developed market and UI/online content like Netflix, Hulu, etc. PS3 just got on board with that and their UI is a reflection of it; very clunky. PS3 does have a browser but it has issues with some sites that utilize flash (South Park Studios fail on it). PS3 is definitely sexier looking and you can change the hard drive via buying a regular one off of Amazon versus having to purchase a proprietary Xbox one. PS3 used to be superior when it came to watching pirated movies from thumb drives but they've changed their update schedule for media recognition and you always end up with a movie with no sound in the middle of the show.
I'm actually thinking of getting a 2nd Xbox for my office upstairs instead of PS3 if thats any indication of things. |

hrmmm, thanks for the the feedback. We currently have a separate Blue Ray player and use the Roku for streaming Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc... The wife wanted an upgrade since both our BR Player and Roku are old and do not work consistently. Sounds like PS3 could do everything.

Yeah, the only thing Xbox doesn't have is Blue Ray. The reason why I bought a PS3 for the living room in the first place. $100 blue ray player or $200 PS3...PS3 wins.

Pardon me, while I hijack this thread and ask for more recommendations :)
Wireless printer - brand? make? model? primary use will be for home printing and scanning - photo printing not necessary wireless connectivity to wife's macbook pro is a must ;) thanks, in advance! |

Yeah, if you care about having a limited number of devices, the PS3 is nice for that. The Roku will still be nice to have for the other stuff. Netflix plays fine but like Khan said the interface to actually find/add movies is unimpressive.
As far as Xbox vs PS3, if you don't care about any exclusive titles, there's benefits to both. PSN is free versus paying for XBL. On the other hand, games for Xbox seem to go on sale more often than the PS3 versions for whatever reason. Depending on how many games you'll buy and whether you care about online features either one could be cheaper (I believe you have to pay for XBL even to just use netflix). |

Yeah, Xbox live is paid and necessary for all the movie functions to work. You do get interesting perks like ESPN and an actual Youtube portal. Is it worth it? Its about $8.50 a month for a family membership and it gets used more than the PS3 because of Halo and the better Netflix interface.
Sorry, can't help with the Mac thing. My household is strictly non-Apple products. If the family wants to get them, I tell them they have to pay and troubleshoot it themselves. |
