Optimal class/build for farming unique monsters

Is anyone else trying to hunt down mobs for the unique collection achievement? Let me know if you are and we can invite each other whenever we find new ones. If you view achievements from the friend list, you can actually see which ones the other person has checked off already.

The best method I've found so far is using a monk with infinite tempest rush. You can get gear for 59% constant move speed for under 1 mil, and you never have to stop for anything (use serenity to avoid CC).

Even though a DH can move at 85%, only the actual flip from vault passes through enemies, so I find my runs are way slower than with the monk.

A CM WZ with wormhole could move fast, but I think the risk of not noticing the unique would be high.

I wonder if a WW barb would be better, or if it'd be too much work to try keeping up WotB while only trying to explore the zone, rather than killing mobs.

You're right that the CM wiz can't do it efficiently Monk all the way for hunting. Another way to do this is to do the old goblin hunting exploit that my friends and I used to do when goblins actually meant something. Have 3 others doing 3 separate games. When someone finds a unique thats required, they invite the others, smash it, and get going. Unsure if this still works.

Oh wait. I think thats what you were inferring. Invite when monsters found. Mea culpa.

Exactly. I already check the achievements of people online on my friends list when I find one anyway, but I was curious if anyone else was actively looking for these guys.

I'm currently still doing my searches with the DH, but I'll try the monk and see how that works out for me.

In case anyone is using the list that appears to be common on posts on the official forums, the diablowiki site, and other places, be advised that it is either incomplete, or inaccurate for at least a couple monsters. The specific examples I've seen:

Torchlighter is listed in gardens of hope 2nd tier. I did a ton of runs on the 2nd tier, but have only seen him in the 1st tier.
Mage Lord Flaydren is listed in the unknown depths, but I only found him in the storm halls.

Thanks for that. I'm currently looking for Torchlighter and included Tier2 in my run. (I did notice that all screenshots i have seen was Tier1) So i'll reduce my search space.

Also Ebenezer Samual does NOT spawn in the mass grave as far as my research and runs has shown.
He does spawn in the Tristram Road area (right outside the gate where you find the first zombies) but is insanely rare. It took me 132 runs through the Tristram Road to find him.

Ouch. I'm glad I easily lose track of how much time I spend on each one.

Yeah.. unfortunately I sit with a piece of paper and make a tick every run. Think it's actually worse doing it that way.

BTW... still haven't found Torchlighter, and I have done about 50 Tier 1 runs and 30 Tier 2 runs. :(
