There are rumors that items that are currently available for crafting will be improved in 1.0.7. I am more inclined to believe they will introduce new plans, but who knows.

I'm sitting on quite a few. If I can get the selling price at $0.70 AND sell them all at that price or higher, I should be able to pay off my wife's car (no, its not luxury car, its a dumb Honda Hybrid). |

It doesn't really make sense to me that brimstones would go up very much since 1) they're so cheap right now and 2) so many legendaries are crap and become brimstones, which means the market is flooded with them. I mean, I have a few hundred right now and almost all of them are from vendoring crappy legendaries. I suppose if you had THOUSANDS of them and they even double in value, you could make a killing. But that's a risk too because of so many unknown variables. What if there are new legendaries/improved old ones, but they require UPDATED brimstones and current brimstones become LEGACY brimstones? All of the brimstones right now will become completely worthless. Even in a scenario where they just improve the set plans straight up wouldn't really drive a spike in demand. The absolute best case scenario would be where they not only buff those legendaries (as in some of those items become BiS), but they also make the need for brimstones very high (like 10 brimstones to create one item or something). Then there would be a great need for lots of them, which would increase demand.
At the end of the day though, I dunno. Do people really need better items to farm MP0? |

There is a demand for better items, regardless of what you're going to do with them. Its the "new, improved, and cool" factor. There is no real need for a car like a Cobra Mustang or Audi R6. However people want them and are willing to pay for them once they are unveiled. I'm hoping Blizzard will utilize this manufacturing and marketing strategy.

Is the idea to sell the Brimstones at the spike and buy them when they come back down for crafting purposes? The reason they spike is because there is a new use for them. If you have a stockpile of them you could actually use them for new crafting and could earn even more than 150% ROI. If it's more Bind on Account items, though, then selling the Brims is clearly the better use.

Tomes of Secrets are selling for a lot more than usual as well. It sucks because I need to buy 1,001 of them to finish crafting my radiant star topaz.

@mentok1982 Tome prices fluctuate wildly within a day. I have a standing rule to put up any Tome I have at 995 Gold. They've been selling out nearly every day. I also buy at 700 Gold and I've found the opportunity to buy at least some every day. It's only a small cost compared to completely crafting a radiant star topaz, though, so I'm not sure it's worth waiting for a Buy Low opportunity.
If you're crafting it from scratch with no raw mats at all, it's likely cheaper to just buy the RS Topaz off the AH directly. There's a good chance it's cheaper to sell every raw mat you have and then buy a RS Topaz. Sometimes, though, there's a feeling of accomplishment crafting the gem yourself and that warm, fuzzy feeling could easily be worth the 300-500k gold you would save by buying it on the AH. |
