I compiled a short list of items that I look at frequently and the relevant stats on one of the forum posts here. My philosophy is go big or go home. Find the most expensive deals you can afford and buy them without fear. I try to keep my gold around 50M-100M and my RMAH balance around $100. This allows me to hedge between both markets as well as obviously be able to purchase the item. There are still a lot of items I simply cannot afford (trifecta pox, trifecta nat's, trifecta immortal king's, cc mempo), so I don't make a TON on flips. But 10-50M is a great amount for me, so I really try to shoot for something I can flip for around that amount.

So is this new forum on flipping going to be focused around arbitrage between the gold AH & the RMAH, or just flipping in general...? Cause being in Asia but playing off of the North American server, I am unfortunately locked out of the RMAH.. :-(

I've only recently found an item or two that I can flip given the paltry amount of gold I have (never hit 30 million gold in my account in my life), so I am at most making 1-2 hundred thousand profit per flip. Would love to have a bankroll & learn how to flip stuff in the millions--though I'm worried the only way that's possible in this game is to have access to the RMAH...? :-0

I don't think that with a website dedicated to Real Money Trading, you can't not have a forum on flipping.

Personally, i think the greatest potential in flipping is the ability to take advantage of the arbitrage spread between the GAH and the RMAH - and being shut out of the RMAH certainly limits you - the challenge then on your side is to get an account setup where you have a US based address.

I am NOT telling you to do this, giving any advice, etc, as this may be against the law. I'm not sure and I don't want to find out - this is for informational purposes only and what I've seen other people do.

#1. Get a US Based PHYSICAL address (not a PO Box). There are many companies out there that offer these kind of services, but it will cost you - how much, I have no idea. I would personally consider going to a "UPS Store", which is what the old Mail Boxes ETC became. They offer you a physical street address, and you then use "PMB #xxx), where PMB stands for Personal Mail Box and xxx is the box number the store gives you.

#2. Open a US based bank account. Not difficult once you have your US based address.

#3. Setup a VPN client. There's a company out there called HideMyAss.com that i hear is a great company to do business with. They setup a VPN where you can VPN into just about any country from any other country. So when you log into D3, it'll look like you're logging in from a local, US based address as the server that you VPN into IS in the US - and with HMA you can pick a ton of possible addresses (i believe they have a server in every state and in most cases they have multiple servers in multiple locations in each state).

#4. Setup your paypal account to match that of your new bank account and your new US based address.

#5. Make MONEY.

Now, how much you will make - I have no idea - again, it may not even be legal - the above was for informational purposes only.

However, you may have a friend in the US that can do all the above in his name and you just register a new d3 account in his name and then have him pass off any money that's made back to you. That could be against the law as well - i don't know and I don't want to know - i'm just starting a discussion for informational purposes only.

The main challenge is actually #3, and the fact that I stupidly red-flagged myself in a way w/ Blizzard by letting them know that I was currently working outside of the country. :-0 I mean, I'm a US citizen, I still have my bank account in the states, & I could easily use my sister or brother or dad's address there. When I first installed Diablo 3, I could view the RMAH, but didn't have the account set up--and since at the time I did not know I was not allowed to use the RMAH if I'm outside of the country, I foolishly sent them a tech support message asking how to set up the cellphone number authentication system w/ my Taiwan cellphone number. At that point, Blizzard began blocking my access to even view the RMAH, and told me I was not allowed to use it until I came back to the states... :-(

Since then, they're somehow checking my originating IP address--cause when I let some time pass & wrote back to them again asking them to reinstate my access to the RMAH (& pretending to be back stateside), they said "no, it doesn't appear like you are...contact us again when you are..."

Anyway, will check out HideMyAss.com and see if that might help. Thanks again for all of the advice though! :)

Flip! So I sold the Skorn I bought for $12 for 60 million gold. As predicted, it came out to 51 million. Looking at Windforces in the $11 range now for flipping.

Edit: At the $0.25 exchange rate, that's a $0.75 profit. In hindsight, I could have sold it for about 70 - 90 million but I wanted to see if the market was actually viable.

Nice! May not be much, but something's better than nothing! You might look at CC Nat's, too. I noticed on the RMAH, their not really priced by how much CC they have like on the GAH.

Dang, man, that's nice. I've had trouble selling anything on RMAH for awhile. I'm actually sitting on a buttload of gold right now, but yeah, everything I post on RMAH just dies a slow, auction house death...

It really makes no sense sometimes either. I tried to sell an item for $20 (what's that, like 80M gold) and nothing. So I posted up for 90M on GAH and it sold. So I guess gold is actually worth less than 25 cents/M. Still, it's pretty disconcerting that I can't even sell some cheap Nat's rings for like $1.50.

I must admit I have no idea why people buy items on RMAH. It's not like there is a barrier to changing real money to gold, switching between action houses takes micro sconds and it even keeps the same search criteria!

However, I still been managing to sell items on a pretty regular basis. Probably 10 items over past 5 days.

Got it for 55 million. Lets see what the RMAH can yield.

Bought for $10 and sold for $15

Just flipped a leg and got more than 40x profits (ie invested 1 unit get back 40 units) after tax. Made me realise there are some rich players who don't mind spending on items with unique stats.
