So - math guys - help me out here. I'm not going to do this but I think there may be chance that somebody here can make some cash with this - again, if my math is right.
So, you can purchase brimstones right now on the RMAH for 58 cents each ($0.58). So, purchase 10 brimstones for $5.80. Take those brimstones over to the GAH, and sell them each for 400,000 gp, so you now have 4,000,000 gp. Pay your 15% fee and you now have 3,400,000 gp. Go back over to the RMAH and sell your 3,400,000 gp. GP right now are going for 25 cents ($0.25) for 100k, so if you sell at 24 cents each ($0.24) to make sure it moves and sells first. 34 units x .24 = $8.16. After paying the auction fee you now have $6.93. Bam-o, you just made $1.13 for buying 10 brimstones. Real life arbitrage. Somebody - anybody - check my math and numbers here please - but hopefully this is a bit of payback I can give the community here for the give-away you guys are doing. *** note - not sure if there's enough of a profit margin to transfer the money out to paypal as i didn't do that part of the math but maybe somebody can even make a few real $$$ here rather than just building up their blizzard bank account. |
Can brimstones be arbitraged right now?

I just updated the Fiery Brimstone Tracker price and it shows brimstone are on average 43.5% cheaper on the real money auction house. We offer this stat on every item so users can compare quite quickly the average trading difference in auction houses.
So yes @baccarat0809 there is money to be made but remember selling commodities takes a total of 30% of your profit if you decide to cash out to paypal. Edit: Also you cannot sell gold at .24 per 100k as the floor enforced by blizzard is .25. |

OK - so here's 3 follow-up questions.
A. If Blizz enforces .25 per 100k, generally speaking how long does it take to move 1M gp to "real dollars". B. The 30% you're talking about is it figured this way? Step 1 ~ Blizzard takes 15% as a transfer fee. Say you sell something for $10.00. You now have $8.50 Step 2 ~ Blizzard then takes 15% as a transaction fee. Is that 15% charged on the $10.00 price or the remainder $8.50? So, are you left with $7.00 or $7.23? C. Does paypal charge you anything for receiving the money onto your credit card, or is their profit margin for doing this covered by the "transaction fee"? Thanks Anuiran. |

There is a tool on the website for calculating fees here. Also Paypal does not charge you again as they get their cut in the 15% transfer fee.
As for the question of how long it takes to sell gold it is quite random but a few D3RMT users were discussing that topic in this thread. |

Anuiran - thanks for the fee tool - very nice. Found the GP thread while wandering out.
Great site so far. Looks more promising than the battle.net site with a lot less whiners and complainers. People here seem to actually want to work together for the betterment of each other. Kudos so far |

My guess is it is selling okay, but one person holds the Q for most of the time as the big wigs probably list millions of gold each day. |

Well, at least its a way of "buying" gold if you're so inclined to do so. Cheaper than the .25 per 100k they charge.
Just buy a bunch of brimstones and convert them and you're paying close to 1/2 price. Thanks for the feeback guys. |

Well,i don`t know ...i had gold on sale for a long time and never sold, and was always on 0.25 but maybe you are right about those who lists tons of gold.
And another thing is that most of the people who have the money to buy gold already have lots of gold and probably only the newcommers will buy gold. I think buying brimstones/materials or anything that sells is better than trying to sell gold. |
