I saw a guide where they promise 1-60 level-up in 8-10 hours: http://www.diablo3farming.com/2012/06/05/leveling-fast-in-diablo-3-update/

If you're doing it solo without having all the fancy stuff you can do it in 12~ hours assuming you have at least 500k to buy some leveling gear. I'm sure if you had the right items 10 would be possible, maybe less.

I have read somewhere that you get 90% or 95% less experience from monsters (and then no experience at all) once your level gets much higher than monsters' level.
I haven't tried/tested that but it makes sense, otherwise you'd spend way too much time on the same levelling areas.

Yeah. Haha. Tried to farm for Leoric's Sgnet last night in Act II Normal. With +25% Exp, I think I got about 5 to 10 exp per normal monster, and I need 19 mil for the next level up. I am sure you don't want to calculate how many monster you need to kill in normal for the next level up.

About level up your character quickly, I think the easily way to do is with a buddy who has a level 60 guys and power you through all the mode, you need +movement stuff to keep along with him, otherwise, the kill exp won't be shared if you are too far behind. I powered through my wife's barb to lvl 60 in a night.

@treecats wait, is it possible for a level 60 character to invite a level 1 character to Inferno mode, and power level him?

Don't know. I will try tonight.

I know when I started Lvl 60 in Act I inferno, someone can invite me to play in Act IV inferno which I died in seconds.

However though, if you still skip all the mode, you will miss all the achievement.

Minimum level 25 to enter Nightmare.
50 for Hell.
60 for Inferno.

If you meet those levels, you can go anywhere in the game on the given difficulty.

it took me 20 hour to reach 60 with Wd and i only had a star ruby on helm so i think with cain set and leoric ring make it possible

As long as you got the gear.

I did it with 11 hours played time on a barb. Ran solo with no companion the whole way and probably spent less than 1.5M total on equip, visiting the AH every 5-10 levels to regear. Star Ruby in helm and 3 piece Cain's set as soon as I was high enough to wear it (I bought all 4 pieces and used whatever 3 would give me the best stats at the time depending on available gear.) Almost everything else I wore had some +xp on it. Used a variation of the standard WW tornado build with extra fury gen stuff (leap and ground stomp.)

As long as you make sure your weapon far outclasses your current level, you can steamroll through.

Cain's set
Red gem in helm
Lvl 1-40 Red gem in wep.
40-60 find a 'lower level req' wep

Shouldn't take any longer than 12 hours for either class just playing the game straight through to inferno.

Pretty much what every else said, Cain's set with radiant star gem in helm and you can do it easily.

Definitely possible but you'd likely have to combine Cain's set and leoric's ring

yeah it's very possible to get to 60 in 10 hours. i was able to do 1-60 in a little over 3 hours with someone running me through certain areas in a3 and with a lot of exp on kill along with a ruby in helm and cain's set. the areas they were running me through were the keeps lvl 2, rakkis bridge, and the battlefields.

I gear with a Cains and Borns set for added XP on lower levels. Boots and helm for Cains set and shoulders and chest for Borns set. I've used that setup on my monk, wiz, and barb (stopped leveling her after the patch because I wanted to concentrate on Para leveling).

I agree with either act/level choice mentioned above. I prefer heart of sin personally.

Great advice. Just picked up a set of each pretty cheap and the levels are flowing like water!

It was definitely a lot easier when the double XP bug was allowed for quests, but it's still A3 runs for the Heart of Sin that nets me the most EXP.

Got Cains set and a decent Ruby and made it about 35 levels in a day of casual playing. No rush, just playing through content.

This seems possible but you'd have to be soooo committed to it

I think it's highly possible, especially in softcore IF you have someone giving you way points. The ideal spots are high density areas with waypoints/checkpoints: Leoric's manner, vault of the assasin, then arreat crater lvl 1&2. You wanna be wearing a cains set, ruby, +xp gear and -lvl ilvl 63 gear once you hit 45ish. Once you get to hell, you can skip act 2 and go strait to act 3. The reason why you need the act 2 for normal and nighmare is because the exp you gain is scaled off the difference in your level and monster level, because normal and nightmare each cover 25 lvls, the reduced scaling makes jumping from leorics manner to arreat crater too drastic. Once you get socketed weapons, put in a radiant star ruby in there too.

so far, I managed to level up my wizard to 32 in 10 hours.
not too bad, definitely much faster than with my DH, where it took me 70h or so (!!!) but I took my time, slowly exploring every yard everywhere and not skipping anything, and didn't use any +XP gear or anything.

For the Wizard, the Cain set and the gem help tremendously, levels come up really fast.

I have an experiment/request to make:
I have a level 8 monk on the US server.

would anyone be so kind to help me level up by taking me to Act III (or IV) in Normal and doing couple runs with me (maybe the Alkaiser runs)?
I will do my best not to die.
I want to see how much it speeds up things to do that.
It won't be a total waste of time for whoever helps: you can equip cheap 300% MF gear and if you're lucky, you'll get some legendary/set items/plans.

and of course I'd return the favor as soon as I can.

I tried many tricks: level reduction weapons (man, are they expensive...), Cain's Set, +25% Ruby, ... (but no Leoric Ring)

Some friends helped me by opening waypoints or killing Bosses for me.

In the end, I managed to do it in 21h :/

what could I have done better?
wasting less time early on, being able to afford the Leoric Signet, having more friends available to open more waypoints and maybe even farm higher acts with me when my DPS is too low.

but I am not sure it can be done in 10h though :/

I'll give it another try maybe... I have a monk in US server and a barb in EU server.

EDIT: btw, drops were awful... I stopped picking up blues (no point) and Rares were extremely rares.
I got 2/3 Rares per boss in Normal mode, nothing after that, and one from time to time killing Elites.
to get decent drops, I had to farm with my 5xNV high MF DH (and then the drops are not bad, I often got upgrades, but AH is just faster)
