Fire damage increased or is it just me?

The things that kill me 99% of the time now are fire chains, desecrators (I think they're fire), and firewalls (A3 while going for Ghom the fire that jumps from the grates killed both @buzzell and I almost instantly) and those goddamn fallen maniac doorway ambushes (not fire I think, but thats to be expected; banelings melt everything right?).

Anyone geared pretty well but still getting slapped around by fire related damage?

I thought its because I was wearing a 14% andy's visage. that would make sense though.
Good post @khan

First off, environment fire isn't resistable so that's why you (and everyone else) dies from the grates. It was present in 1.03 so it might be intentional.

I think Blizzard changed the AI on the Fire Chain monsters in 1.04 so that they more aggressively use their Fire Chains. Basically, they run around more to keep ticking the player down. Pay attention to the stinger insects in Act 2, in particular. Sometimes all they do is try to fly circles around you. Beyond that, you're probably getting hit by 2 Fire Chains simultaneously in most cases so you're getting ticked doubly fast.

I also think Desecrators are fire and I think they stack so if you're getting nailed particularly hard, but only randomly, you might be standing in two pools. You usually have about a second's notice to move before you start taking damage.

Or you can't resist Fire Chains or Desecrator pools, either. Or there's a bug in calculating resists. I play ranged so all I need to worry about is Mortar. Eff'ing Mortar. Just need more Fire resist.

Fire attacks have the same "problem" that have trail of cinders. It's exactly the same.

Hope that the nerf to trail of cinders will be to the rest of fire attacks

I'm not sure if fire has increased either but it sure is deadly. Molten stacks by Minion's or hordes tear through me like im a marshmallow.

I tested it earlier with 1100 all res and you still die almost instantly from those fire grates in act3/The Keep. If you go back to act2, you will notice all these things like fire, desecrator do almost no damage in comparison, in ACT3 they just seem to do triple the damage.

Fallen Maniacs are, well, suicide bombers that do their job well, they would be almost at the top of the list of mobs i hate if it weren't for those fat guys in act3 that buff everyone and run away constantly, it just prolongs their death.

Its good I'm not the only one feeling the pain here. It's both hilarious and depressing that we can kill Diablo and every boss prior but get 1 shot by a fire grate.

I rock 800 resists and molten is still a major pain in the ass, even moreso in Act 3.

I have to keep dashing strike on my monk to move from fire chains/pools or I too die quickly. Of course I only have 26k health.
