Question about Treasure Goblin/Puzzle Ring

What determines the loot dropped by the Treasure Goblins? Do NV stacks, MP, and MF all contribute? What role does the area that the larcenous creature spawn in play in the what it drops? What if it spawns from a puzzle ring?

I am wondering because I was thinking of pickng up a puzzle ring, getting the 5 NV stack, and consistently spawn and kill the bugger in Act III inferno, maybe in a nice tight space, as an alternative to farming.

Thanks for any info!

MF (and hence, MP) and NV stacks contribute to the loot quality.
I get more Rares with 5xNV than with 1 or 2xNV

not sure what iLevel puzzle-ring goblins drop though, never tried.

If I remember correctly, the goblins spawned on Inferno difficulty are level 61, regardless of MP level or act.

Do you have a source? I remember them saying gobs would spawn based on difficulty and act, but saw nothing on mplvl.

If all gobs are lvl 61 is there any point in killing them?

I thought there was a blue post stating that puzzle ring goblins were all lvl 61. I don't remember anything about random gobs.

I believe he only meant the ones that spawn from the puzzle ring. Any other monster that spawns in inferno difficulty is i lvl 63 no matter what. Maybe that has changed now? Interesting...I see footprints in the sand!!!!!

Inferno is always lvl61 according to this.

"The level of the Treasure Goblin summoned by a Puzzle Ring is based on what difficulty the wearer is currently playing through. If you're playing in Normal, you'll summon a lower level goblin; if you're playing in Inferno, you'll summon a higher level goblin.

Normal - lvl 13
Nightmare - lvl 35
Hell - lvl 53
Inferno - lvl 61

The loot the goblin drops will then be based on its level (not the wearer's level or the level requirement on the ring), so what you get really depends on what you're doing at the time. :)"

Thanks for finding the source, @khan. I knew I read it somewhere from a blue.

And here is the source for the puzzle ring regarding MP levels.

I believe there's a 15 minute cooldown between potential procs so about 4 per hour.

BNET forums have it around 15 mins based on some tests. I have this on my Templar when farming and it does take some time to spawn. Maybe run some tests in front of a flame thing in A3?

thats exactly what i tried! it took a really long time, and i thought maybe i forgot to equip it on the follower or something
supposedly the ring's timer is reset if a new person wears the ring... but i'm not sure how true that statement is

Remeber that you actually have to get hit to spawn a goblin. So if your follower keeps out of harms way it will never spawn.

I use one on my followers both in SC and HC while I'm doing my unique hunting, and I get one goblin per run.
On SC it probably is not really worth having, but since the HC ring only cost me 100k it is more than worth it.

Do you want to be a super hero? Do you want to be a super hero? The upcoming game Roger and Out is recruiting best players to beat the monsters in the game world. If you are enough strong and clever, why not have a try? Super heros, are you ready?

Puzzle treasure is a series of hollow patterns to fill with geometry pieces. In other words, you put together the stone pieces to make a key for various keyholes.

hmm?
