I just want to get a feeling from other players.
I like variety, and playing with all 5 classes. At the moment it is hard enough to try and find gear for all 5. But what makes it even worse is with Paragon levels I seem to make no progress on anyone. I have some paragon levels on 5 normal guys, and working on my first paragon level on 2 HC guys as well. I put in a massive lot of time, but it seems that compared to my friends who only play 1 dedicated char I'm making no progress. Wouldn't it be better if paragon levels was bound to your account instead of your character. I get that this may be weird for the stat bonus. But it does make sense for the MF and GF bonus. What with Blizzard trying to get diversity out there... paragon levels is a step back for multi-class diversity. |
Paragon levels reduces multi-class play

You are completely right it makes sense for the MF/GF bonus, I really wish it was an account wide system. It's hard for me to make alts in games unless I have a main character at max level already.

What else to say. Time consuming :( it is.
Have 2 chars of each class on 60 (sc btw) a few of them PL past 10. At the moment leveling my 2nd char on us servers to 60. But no hardcore char till now. Will try sometimes. |

Blizzard's philosophy: Five times the grinding equals five times the fun! You're right in that it completely discourages multi-class play because of the time involved in leveling one character. The thing is that if they did an account wide experience system, it would artificially "shorten" the life of the game because you wouldn't have anything to do once you reached PL 100. Right now, if you reach PL 100, they can say "but you didn't do it with every character!" There are crazies out there who play 8+ hours a day and Blizzard still has to cater to them. Additionally, I think account wide experience wouldn't necessarily encourage multi class play because people tend to "lean" on one class because of its familiarity as well as quality of gear. It doesn't feel right (at least to me) to build 5 characters with average gear as opposed to 1 character with uber gear. This has nothing to do with PL; it's just an attribute of games where you can build up characters over time. PvE will not change this fact. There's no incentive or reward to switching classes and that's what ultimately turns people off. It's going to have to be PvP that motivates people to PL other classes. Not just for the uniqueness of each class in killing each other or the stat bonuses, but Blizzard can finally introduce things that have sustained so many other games. They can introduce more achievements, tokens, W/L record, K/D ratio, rating, or even account wide bonuses from PvP. I would imagine PL would be tied in to the opponents you face, so paragon leveling would become more dynamic in PvP. |
