i was browsing twitch the other day and this guy was doing something called "multiboxing" where he was controlling 4 chars at the same time using this software. According to him its 100% legit... wondering if anyone has any exp with it?

This is far more common with WoW than D3, because it's much easier to script with WoW than D3 ... I think. In WoW, the player can map different macros to keystrokes on a single keyboard so you can control 4+ games at once from a single keyboard. For D3, I would think they need to use bots which would put them in Blizzard's gunsights.

A friend of mine used to do it in WoW.

It was tolerated in WoW because Blizz specifically said they allowed it and unofficially, it's that many times the 15$ per month.
That and it didn't really give anyone an edge in any way. Yes, people could do weird things like "solo" dungeons, but ultimately, who cared.

In Diablo though, I am highly skeptical it would be tolerated because it involves macros and probably add-ons/modifications and/or third-party programs and Blizzard is extremely clear that they will not allow anything else than the basic game client.

well according to this guy, its legal but id take it with a grain of salt... also, wouldn't this require 4 diff accounts? thought it was interesting... but id rather play with 3 other d3rmt members anyday :)

The popular theory from guys multiboxing as far as I can tell is that it's legal because you are not using a bot, you are just providing multiple simultaneous inputs.

I simply can't see how you can do this without software help. I can hardly keep track of everything I'm doing playing 1 character. And unfortunately all software help is wrong, according to Blizz.

I have seen some elaborate WOW multibox rigs, but it all seems WAY more effort than its worth.

And NOTHING beats this.

I don't know much about wow, but if you want to count the number of things/pets on screen, I imagine 4 WDs might come close with all those fetishes and bears.

For those wondering about the legality of the software, that video links to a page explaining this on the multibox software's site. Obviously they're going to want to say it's legal, but they do provide some specific sources if that makes you feel better.
