Legendary Aspects are the affixes that can make or break your build in Diablo 4, as these provide effects that are nearly Unique-tier in the synergies they provide. These are slotted into your Rare Diablo 4 items, converting them into a Legendary item. Much of your endgame experience revolves around selecting the right Legendary Aspects for your build and rolling for the highest value. This process takes a fair amount of materials and Diablo 4 gold to turn all your gear to Legendaries, which takes a lot when buildcrafting. With over 120+ Aspects to choose from, there is a staggering amount of buildcrafting to be had. Here are some of the most powerful and important Aspects that you should always get for each class.
The Aspect of Might is a great all-around gear affix for builds that need a bit of extra protection in the endgame. It’s effect states that Basic attacks will grant you flat 20% damage resistance for a set duration, which is essentially a free armor bonus just for using the most basic attacks. Any glass cannon builds can make good with easy access to defensive stats.
This Aspect works similarly to Might, as you gain armor just by attacking enemies. However, this benefit is even more easy to proc as dealing ANY type of damage will give a stack of armor. While Armor calculates damage mitigation differently to DR, any source of defensive stats will be good enough for surviving World Tier 4 content.
Much of Diablo 4’s combat loop involves using your Core skills that expends a class resource and using your Basic skills to regenerate said resource. This Aspect grants you Basic skills extra attack speed, which conversely increases your class resource generation for even more Core skill casting. Classes like the Barbarian, Druid, Rogues and Necromancers will need this Aspect if they want the most uptime on their core skills
Critical Strike is an important part of doing high DPS with the multipliers to your base damage. It is inevitable that your build will lean towards doing critical hits. The Accelerating Aspect further boosts your DPS by granting you extra attack speed whenever your Core skill makes a critical hit, which is very likely in the endgame. This will be a good filler Aspect to take if you have taken all the best class exclusive Aspects and you still have a piece of gear that isn’t Legendary yet.
When playing around with Core skills, you’ll often find yourself capped out on your class resource. The Edgemaster’s Aspect will boost your Core skill damage the higher your resource is at maximum. For builds that spec a bit more into resource generation, this aspect is a must-have for builds that need maximum Core skill uptime.
Every class has an ability that is channeled and requires them to stand still. The Aspect of Inner Calm is one of the best for these skills as it provides a free damage bonus for remaining stationary using some channeled skills as they are. Staying still for 3 seconds will triple the damage bonus of this aspect, which is why if you’re building a Core skill that has this requirement, it is mandatory to take Inner Calm.
This new Aspect for Season 5 has a potent effect for many Barbarian builds. The effect simply states that reaching more than half of your Fury meter will grant you Berserk, but you lose 2 Fury per second. The Berserk state is an important mechanic for most builds as the Barbarian class has many passives that require this state to be effective with.
Fury and the Berserk state go hand in hand for Barbarian gameplay. Berserk Fury, as the name implies, grants you Fury per second while under the Berserk state. Paired with the Aspect of Anger Management and you can recoup the Fury drain from the aforementioned Aspect.
For Whirlwind users, this Aspect is a must have for making this skill viable in the endgame. Its effect is that the longer you channel your Whirlwind skill, the more critical hit chance it has. Since you’ll want to channel Whirlwind for as long as you can, it makes sense to get an Aspect that rewards constant uptime with a Core skill.
Shouts are your filler skills once you have selected your Core skill and Basic skill. Barbarian Shouts are buffs and debuffs that you grant on demand and will serve to boost your primary DPS for enemy groups. This Aspect is important for speed-clearing as its effect reduces the cooldown of your Shouts for every Enemy near you, up to a maximum of 6 seconds. This way, clearing enemy groups will be far easier for you in the endgame.
Hammer of the Ancients is one of the Barbarian’s best Core skills and can be a potent group/boss killer if built right. This Aspect grants a straight damage boost to your Hammer of the Ancients, doubled when striking Boss enemies. This also makes your HotA quake outward for more AoE coverage. Overall, this Aspect is a cornerstone for any Barbarian speccing into using Hammer of the Ancients for all types of content.
Unlike other classes, Fury does not regenerate on its own like, requiring Barbarians to generate it during combat when engaging an enemy. This Aspect allows you to refund a portion of the Fury spent whenever you kill an enemy with your Core skill. Not only is keeping your Fury high important for Barbarian gameplay, but it will indirectly fund your overall DPS for most endgame content due to the high mob density of World Tier 4.
If you’re speccing into Werewolf shapeshifting skills and you need the extra survivability, look no further than the Vigorous Aspect. This grants you a small damage reduction bonus while you’re in Werewolf Form. Since the Werewolf Shape is made for offensive abilities, having the small insurance will help you survive in the long run for World Tier 4 content.
Wolves are one of the better companions you can bring, as they have the best Druid synergies and passives that add to your kit. The Aspect of the Alpha turns your Wolf Companions into Werewolf Companions. Werewolf Companions deal bonus damage and can spread Rabies. While companion builds aren’t primarily a DPS build, the Rabies effect they can inflict does work with certain passive abilities in the Druid skill tree.
Druids are one of the few classes with easy access to the Fortified status effect. Since you will inevitably build up Forify regardless of how you build, this Aspect is a recommended choice. Your Core Skills deal more damage based on your amount of Fortify, gaining the max value when Fortified. With this Aspect, you get to double dip on defensive stats and Core skill damage.
If you ever spec for Storm skills, getting this Aspect is vital for boosting your DPS with any Storm ability. When equipped, this causes Storm skills to be affected by the Earthen Might key passive. Earthen Might states that hitting an enemy with Earth skills has a chance to restore max Spirit and give guaranteed critical hits for 5 seconds.
Earth skills comprise a quarter of your skills as a Druid in Diablo 4. This Aspect is powerful as it plays into the Fortify effect, which Druids have access to. Simply put, when you have this Aspect equipped, being Fortified grants +2 ranks to all your Earth skills. Since many of your passives involve the use of Fortify, you get the best of both worlds with the 15% damage resist of Fortify and 2 ranks worth of damage for your Earth skills.
Minion summoning is one of the Necromancer’s iconic playstyles and this Aspect directly upgrades your minions. When the Aspect of Reanimation is equipped, all your Golems and Skeletons will deal bonus damage when staying alive for 10 seconds after summoning. Minionmancers have no reason not to take this Aspect as it is a straight upgrade for all minions.
Best paired with the Aspect of Reanimation is the Requiem Aspect for any prospective minionmancer builds. It has the simple effect of increasing your Max Essence for every Minion you have active. This allows you to feed your Core skills just by having as many Skeletons and Golems out on the field with you.
Blood Surge is a solid Core skill, and with the right build, can melt bosses and massive enemy groups in one cast. This Aspect functions like a Unique for Necromancers, as according to its effect, Blood Surge’s nova echoes again after a short delay, but deals reduced damage. While this Aspect is good for AoE, it makes single target damage viable as it will deal damage twice.
Blood Lance is the single-target variant of the Blood skill tree and is a powerful tool for dealing boss DPS. With Aspect of Gore Quills, Blood Lance will consume Blood Orbs to also conjure lances from them, which is best paired with the Hemmorrhage Basic skill. Each additional Blood Lance deals a portion of the first Blood Lance’s damage and prioritizes targeting un-lanced enemies.
If minion builds aren’t your thing and you choose to sacrifice them instead, the Sacrificial Aspect is a mandatory Aspect to have equipped. It states that the bonuses you gain when sacrificing each minion will be increased even further. This way, you can get the best possible benefits for playing solo even without minions. If you want a solid power boost for playing Daiblo 4 like all other classes, the Sacrifical Aspect is your best pick.
For Blood builds, you will generate Blood Orbs as a byproduct for using Hemorrhage and the other abilities in this tree. With Potent Blood, absorbing any Blood Orbs will also give you a good amount of Essence as well, which will be great for funding all your Core skills while also working as a resource refund if they belong in the Blood tree as well. This way, not only will you refill your health, but also your primary resource.
As a Rogue, you are fragile even with the best possible armor and resistances, as your greatest strength lies in your mobility. The Aspect of Quickening Fog helps you make a quick escape while inflicting Daze on all enemies within. Its effect states that whenever you make a Dash action, you drop a Smoke Grenade at the end point. Enemies hit by the Smoke Grenade will reduce the cooldown of your next Dash. This is great for crowd control, and it does not require any investment in certain skills.
The Rogue skill tree provides plenty of sources for inflicting the Vulnerable state on enemies and this Aspect plays into that effect. When you have the Ravenous Aspect equipped, killing a Vulnerable enemy will increase your Energy regeneration for 4 seconds, which is vital for keeping your Core skill uptime high in most scenarios.
Twisting Blades is one of the more powerful Core skills in the Rogue arsenal, as it can deal its full damage multiple times, excelling in single target, while also returning to the player in a line, which cleaves enemies for the same full damage. When enhanced with the Bladedancer’s Aspect, your Twisting Blades will orbit around you, dealing a percent of the damage it dealt when returning. This means that your Twisting Blades will last much longer on the field while dealing extra damage within close range.
Using the Shadow Clone skill is like bringing a second player with you, as it will mimic all the skills and attacks you make for a portion of the damage you dealt. To further augment your Shadow Clone, the Aspect of Imitated Imbuement will cause it to mimic your Imbuement skills as well. Meanwhile, using an Imbuement skill will boost your Shadow Clone’s damage as well. If built right, your Shadow Clone will deal the exact same damage as you do. With its ability to copy your Imbuements, this means that the clone can also exploit enemy elemental weaknesses.
Shadow Step is unique in that it is a guaranteed Lucky Hit when it strikes an enemy. While the skill itself does good damage while stealthing you, it has a fairly long cooldoown when used in prolonged combat. However, with the Ravager’s Aspect, you can theoretically chain Shadow Step as many times as there are enemies on screen. The Aspect states that Shadow Step is given an extra charge, giving you two uses. If an enemy is killed with this ability, the charge is refunded and increases the damage of the next Shadow Step for 2 seconds, which can stack.
The Sorcerer is a Mana-intensive class that has no means of regenerating it through Basic skills. As Mana is a precious resource, the Prodigy’s Aspect alleviates some of the resource demand. It states that using any skill with a cooldown will restore a portion of your Mana. Spells like Ice Armor, Teleport and Flame Shield will contribute to your Core skills and is a general QoL feature for any Sorcerer.
Since there is no direct way to restore mana, getting this Aspect is one of the few ways you can get some Mana back. This works specifically with the Chain Lightning Core spell, as it states that Chain Lightning hits restore a small amount of Mana for each chain. This way, you can cast Chain Lightning a bit more frequently without waiting for the Mana regen to kick in.
Freeze spells make the bulk of your kit as a Sorcerer and will be a potent source of crowd control for the endgame. The Aspect of Winter Touch allows Freezed enemies to also take a burst of Cold damage, since the Freeze effect itself deals no damage.
