Log in goals: What do you try to accomplish?

I'm curious what everyone tries to do from the time they log in until they log out.

Right now I aim to fill all my auction house slots, then level my DH, trying to get to paragon 70, for the stupid red banner you get behind your character.

In the past I've been shooting for keys and uber runs, but with the XP bonus coming in 1.0.7, I'm using my max mf DH who isn't really built to do above MP0. Then when higher mp really does help with xp, I'll use my barb who rolls through mp5.

1) AH - search for flipping deals and repost any expired inventory
2) Grind - Trying to get to get that 1 billion gold find
3) Hard Core - Trying (and failing) to finally get someone to 60

Checking the AH and refreshing auctions is definitely the first thing I do. But after that I just play, whether it's SC or HC. No goals in mind really, there's more of a time limit to how long I want to/can play.

brainless mp1 run/runs waiting on some good drops with good rolls.

probably wasted my gold investing in brimstones/gems, waiting for 1.07 to sell.

Sadly, the first thing I usually do is go to the AH as opposed to playing the game.

When playing, if I have a large block of time, I'll usually see if any friends are online & try to join them or invite them for Uber runs. If no one is available or I don't have a lot of time, I'll usually go with a follower & just do Inferno MP5 key runs, working backwards (i.e., Act III then II then I). With a 50% chance of getting a key, I usually don't have to repeat the runs too many times before I get a key drop.

In the past, I would occasionally throw on my gold find gear & load up Act III Nightmare MP10 for some gold runs, but it's been a long time since I've done that; mainly cause of inflation in the Diablo economy making it less & less worthwhile to do so, but also because I've had a small amount of luck in learning to flip legendary items on the AH, which seems more profitable than grinding gold in Nightmare.

At this point I've got six Infernal Machines saved up already, so if anyone wants to kill some Ubers some time, please let me know...! :-)

Since I have a 2 week old baby my playing usually goes as follows:

1) Check AH
2) Start playing, atttempt to get 5 NV.
3) Something baby related happens.
4) Step away from pc, game timeout.
5) Hours go by, and back to (1)

I'm actually trying to get my 100mil gold pickup. But I have been playing since release day, and am now only on 50mil, so I don't see it happening soon.

I'm working on the 100m gold pick up too!

I'm at around 80m, been playing since launch as well. Need to stop playing AH and just try to finish paragon. By the time I hit 100 paragon I should be well over.

I have also found MP0 is almost as good gold wise as lower levels.

I'm only paragon 43 now, but at 45 I will be at the 300% Gold cap. So things are going along ok.

I actually came to the reverse conclusion. I used to just play MP0. But now I find that playing MP2 doesn't really feel any slower so I'm playing there instead. Should help me along as soon as 1.07 hits as well. Might as well get used to it now.

1.a) Check AH and refresh any expired. If had any sells look on chars/mules to replace.

b)Would have spotted RMAH on email already so if I know there was some sells then replace with items bought previously in step 3

2) Grind mp1 with WD.

3) Check usual items that I flip for any deals. Look for new areas to move into on RMAH for flipping.

@@bort @nuhertz At MP4, with a full NV stack, I'm hitting 475% GF. Its still a bit of a chore and getting boring as hell but I guess adds to my Paragon leveling.

I think the gold find % is irrelevant. What's your gold per hour? If I had to guess, and I haven't done too much testing, I'm around 400k/hour.

Its around 300k per run. Haven't timed it but I will next time. Its a pretty quick run: Keeps 3>Keeps 1>Bridge of Korsikk (one loop of Fields of Slaughter without entering cave)>Rakkis>Arreat 2 done. I've also got my templar outfitted with a Puzzle Ring for occasional goblin bonuses. Archon is up 100% on Fields of Slaughter and the Bridge so thats my quickest area.

I can see a clear difference in the gold drop amounts on various GF percentages. Where I'm at now, monsters drop 2k or 3k bundles regularly and 4k bundles on occasion.

I really need to build out my wizard with an archon build. Just so stuck on my DH and barb now.....

Obviously gold find makes a difference, but the per hour is really what you need to look at. I could play MP10 with the gold find bonus, but only kill one pack of elites in an hour and get 7k.

Just like item farming, kill speed is important.

Its 501k for my first hour doing that run over and over. I'm not picking anything up other than legendaries and I hit the Bridge as soon as I get 5 stacks. Sometimes it takes forever and I run almost all of keeps 1 and sometimes I already have 4 elites from Keeps 3 and the 5th is right at the waypoint at keeps 1. I guess I could just go to core of arreat for the last elite. I'll try that out next.

Sky Crown Battlements is 5 Elites about 80% of the time for me. Minimum I've gotten is 3. Adding the ring around Towers of the Damned Level 1 has always gotten me to 5. Keeps 2 is good for experience (if you can handle the exploding goblins) so it seems like it would be good for Gold then, too.

Don't forget about the Bonus Item. Not sure, but I believe the Bonus Item can be Gold piles so the higher you run, the more piles of gold that will drop, too.

Skycrown! Totally forgot about that. I might try MP4 with goldskin to see if the bags of gold are more noticeable.

Right now I mainly have four goals, in no particular order:

1.) Reach paragon 100
2.) Finish maxing out all my gems
3.) Break 200k dps with my witch doctor
4.) Forge a hellfire ring

My fundamental daily goal is to find other friends or people who, within reason, want to just play.

Just say what you want to do and I'll figure it out with you from there. You want a key? Good, set the route or do this one I have in mind. You want to do a full act run? Say so and let's go. What MP? I don't care, do what you're comfy with. Once we have that figured out, and depending on my mood, I'll decide which of my toons to bring in on that basis.

I'm not going to spaz out over sub-100% optimal farming or all conversation while not in town, but once I'm on (and after I'm done listing/relisting AH items and finding new stock, do I really need to tell you that I'm doing this first when I log on and decline your initial invitation every god damned day), I want to play. So let's play.

PL100? It'll happen eventually.
200K DPS? Sure, would be great, but I seem to be doing OK without it.
2B drop? See above.

Come to speak of drops, though, one tacit goal which I think I still have is that I find at least one item which a general player would reasonably want. I don't mean "GODLY", I don't mean 9 digit sale value, I just mean something that isn't a total joke. A weapon with a few desirable affixes and more than 200 DPS. A ring which has affixes beyond thorns and anti-CC. &c. In this respect, I believe I'm on one of the longest dry spells in recent memory and that is probably what is irritating me the most as of late. PL66 Wiz on MP9 seems to find the same ratio of trash as my PL16 Barb does on MP4. I should probably let this goal go.

For me first thing i do is look at the AH and shuffle around as required. Then just jump on and carry on grinding away for lvling.
I've got a course coming up next week that goes for three months so my time after this week is going to be very limited. So atm just trying to get as high as i can with plvls before i head away. Hoping to hit 60 before i go.

My new plan after disconnection killed two of my hardcore toons:

1) hardcore : search for bargains. List 10 items for sale. No playing!
2) softcore : level up WD and Wizard to make it 5 60s. Check for bargains.
3) softcore : hunt for Leoric Signets using my Legacy DH!

1) legendary farming - it is always a surprise to see what I can get :D
2) hellfire ring - avg dmg > 50 , cc, cd
3) checking ah and doing the usual routine
4) getting a mempo with socket 5 cc

Why don't you do Keeps 2? Unless you made a typo.

@NightCrawler9 I like to get my 5 and then head straight to Korsik/Rakkis. I really dislike the keep areas because they're more random mazelike. Using what @ecocd said, going Keeps 3>Skycrown>Korsik>Rakkis>Arreat 2 now gets me 510k + per hour. Linear movement with less thinking is more efficient for me vs the "which corner or door should I use" of the keeps.

@Khan

When I was farming legs, I believe I had an efficient farming route in terms of mobs / time spent, which might be equivalent to golds / time spent.

I wrote this somewhile ago, I believe it is somehow "linear" (I don't even portal to save on the few seconds), at step 6 Keep 2 you can just keep your linear movement up until you discover that it would be too time consuming to run back to another door, and end your run then. Keep 2 is very mobs dense and I suggest not to skip it completely.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I used to farm Act 3 in softcore, my route (Step 1 and Step 2 combined sort of guarantee 5 NVs):
1. Core (I always like to zoom right in to the game), then WP
2. Skycrown (via Stoneford WP) for guaranteed 5NVs, then Tempest Rush myself into the town, then WP
3. Tower 1, do a circle (ANTI CLOCKWISE so that you can check if there is an elite pack down there), then WP
4. Rakkis Crossing, do backward into field (skip stores if no guard crawling out to seek for help, skip the time event),
5. At the field do a big S (i.e. go ANTI CLOCKWISE, this is my best to cover all areas without repetition), skip cave, then WP
6. Keep 2 (via Keep 1 WP), then rush into Keep 3 if convenient (convenient = when you finish the last area of Keep 2 on the left the entrance to Keep 3 is just nearby
7. Keep 3, rush towards the waypoint, don't worry about scouting the whole area. WP to town and leave game.
DONE
