I'm honestly a bit baffled they only had 3 search parameters in the first place. I know the AH team is different than the game developers, but if the game developers allow 6+ affixes, why wouldn't the AH team do the same? I wonder if there are technical hurdles scaling their searching algorithm and they had to rebuild a large portion of it to make these changes. Or maybe their GUI team said more than 3 choices would be confusing to new players. Or maybe they were just lazy.
Still, I'm really looking forward to having a (nearly) fully searchable Auction House. |

I do hope they implement these to the AH. It is discouraging looking through the AH for an item with a stat only to find that it is primarily based on gems in sockets. Really hope they put DPS as a parameter.

Are they enabling comparison from auction house to equipped items (in terms of damage, life, protection)?

@mungness It seems like that comparisons to current gear within the Auction House interface would be a pretty big change. The code to calculate DPS, resists, etc, is all built into the game and some of them even depend upon skills equipped (e.g., DH with Sharpshooter). I think it would ultimately prove more of a headache than it would be worth for Blizzard. Can you imagine the complaints when the AH displays a 1,000 dps increase for an item only to have it be a 200 dps increase in game?

Sometimes I feel like they only included 3 search parameters just so they could allow players to exploit market inefficiencies and find some really great deals on the AH. I just don't understand why they would ever think 3 would be good enough for any player above casuals/newbs and why it has taken so long to remedy this situation. |
