I don't get it.
Quoted from Patch features. "Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno have been removed" "There are also now a total of five difficulty settings that players can select from at-will: Normal, Hard, Expert, Master (unlocks at level 60), and Torment (unlocks at level 70)." So in short... they just renamed the difficulties, and added "Torment" on top of inferno. And they removed monster power, and replaced it with " a difficulty slider" But once again, same thing, just different name. Only real difference is being able to adjust it dynamically. |

The old progression system of Diablo no longer exists. All monsters scale to your level and you only have to play through the story once now.
You don't have to do the Normal, Nightmare and Hell versions of the story, the automatic monster scaling system has completely replaced those modes. In the current version of RoS you can start at any difficulty you want and all the monsters and item drops automatically scale to your level. Torment is the highest difficulty and is only available once you have gotten to level 70. It has the added benefit of dropping legendaries that cannot drop in lower difficulties. Torment and Adventure mode along with Cursed Chests are basically the current endgame. Oh and unlike Inferno you can play Torment at level 1 after you have unlocked it. |

I wonder how long it will be before we see third party sites selling legendary/uber rares for cash like we did in DII.

All legendary items are account bound so it won't happen. |

I thought we had a small window of time to trade with people we were currently in a game with? Legendary items are now instantly account bound?

Yes, you have two hours to trade with anyone that was in a group with you. But that does not allow you to sell or trade items on say another website. |

Ok... but in my opinion the game balance, xp gained and levelling was nicely balanced using the previous mode. Normal takes you to about lvl 30, nightmare to 50 and hell to 60, which unlocks inferno. So the 3 play-through gives you something interesting to do while levelling. Now all they did now was bring endgame (and mindless grinding) to you quicker. One play through won't get you to level 70. At least, I'm guessing it won't. Unless the monster really ramp up along with you. So either you will play through multiple times to get levels, OR you start grinding the same area from the start, which I find boring. (Then again, most people seems to be happy just playing a single map a million times for XP instead of just playing the game) PS. I also think that being able to socket any gem early on, and -lvl req items totally screws up the current levelling system. I loved it for HC, but lets be honest, it does take away most of the challenge. |

One play through should get you around level 50~ after that you start doing rifts and adventure mode. So there is no reason at all to play story mode again.... unless you really like the story mode.

I decided to start a new Barb and see how fast I could get to 60 by playing through on Master without repeating any areas. I'm using leveling gear (Cains, Borns, Hellfire, RS Ruby in helm) that I transferred from my live account and RS Ruby's as soon as I can socket them.
It's very fast so far. I hit 23 just before Skeleton King. I gained 4 more levels this morning in a half hour in Fields of Misery with no Crypt. I'll keep you posted on my progress. Edit: Hit LVL 45 by the end of Act 1. Hit LVL 60 in act 3 just after killing Ghom. Anyway, I think this is good for all of us that have played through multiple times and just want to get a character to 70 as fast as possible. For anyone that wants the normal progression, just don't use the +EXP gear. Of course due to shared paragon, once you have all character classes to 70, there's no need to level any again for anything other than the fun of it. |

I think the idea is to level up by trying the various game modes and seeing which one you like best, which I think is a vast improvement over keep playing the same tired acts over and over. If I never hunt down Zoltan Kule's body and blood again it would be too soon.

*rant start
Heck... why have levels at all. If all everyone wants is to get to 70 as quick as possible to grind max areas why not just start everyone up as lvl 70 chars. If the point is not to play and enjoy the entirety of the game... oh nvm. I'll never get it. *rant ends. ;) |

The point is to provide you with many ways to play the game so you can play whichever way you enjoy the most. I'm not sure what exactly is the problem with that.
I think its great to give us variety. Maybe one day I feel like playing through the entirety of Act 5, maybe another day I just feel like doing some monster hunting, maybe one day I feel like just chilling out and fighting endless waves of monsters. That seems to me a much better way to do it then making you replay the same story elements over and over again forever. |

@Bort, I enjoyed the entirety of the game for a while, but since I play 99% solo, every character I have leveled I had to play through 4 times for full access to all levels. I have gotten pretty bored with and no longer enjoy many parts of the first four acts. If I can fully level a character to 70 with one pass through, I think it's great. I can then play the areas that I enjoy whenever I like at whatever level I like. I'm really looking forward to the new act and new content. Unfortunately I don't yet have access to the RoS Beta.

I know the arguments.
I just get so annoyed when people don't even bother with one play-through. I know people with multiple paragon 100 chars, and no inferno diablo kills. Even while levelling they get someone to power level them on the same area over and over until they can move on to the next difficulty, just doing more of the same. I have 10 lvl 60s... and a couple of dead HC lvl 50+. So I fully understand how you can feel that you don't want to play through multiple times. What I don't get is people saying that playing through the story multiple times is boring, but they then set out and play the same single map (fields of misery, act 3 bride, etc) over and over and over and over... |

Playing the same map over and over is non-existent with Reaper of Souls. Plus the fact that Adventure mode takes you everywhere, people will be forced to kill Diablo and the others every once in a while. But the real variety comes from Rifts and Cursed Chests.
