Found this article and doc on another forum... found it useful and thought I'd share it
click me obviously is just a guideline, but I found it to be fairly accurate |
is your rare worth selling?

It would've been much simpler to have that point to a website that just said, "No"

@Baldy Thanks! Between family togetherness time and kind of slicing up my right index finger (nothing too bad), I've been out of commission. To state the obvious, we left-click a lot in Diablo 3...

I agree...the pants my barb is wearing i found last week... On a side note...the shoulders that he is wearing, I bought for 800K. If those were Viles, (aside frome the lower all res) they would go for 20+ mil! |

I just sold an amulet with 6.5 cc 51% cd, dex, avg dmg, LoH, life regen and fire resist. It was probably worth 20m 1.04, but I ended up sold it for 22k (I set the bid too low, wtf)

I still sell the occasional rare for a million or so. But at a frequency of about one every week. Maybe even 1 every 2 weeks.
And since I'm focusing on HC and unique hunting right now I don't see many legendary or set drops this is all the income I generate. |

Very nice guide--I think I'm going to use this to vendor off a bunch of stuff on all my "mule" characters...! :-) Thanks for posting/linking that, @euggie!

I don't think I mentioned when we last talked - but I found pickup radius and cheap gold find gear to be the most useful addition to my unique farming. I don't like to waste time picking up the low level items, so this lets me still get a decent amount of gold towards the 1% achievement. I'll only pick up rare jewelery and legendaries as they can often sell for at least 50k+. This is assuming you farm NM or Hell for them like me. |

yip. I actually bought a item last night just to get more pickup radius and GF for that exact reason. Although my unique hunting is not going so great thus far. I think I have been at it for about a week and so far I have lost one HC lvl 60, and found 1 unique that I was looking for. All in all not a good ratio. :) |

None of my gold find gear has pickup radius, I don't think. Then again, when I'm farming gold (usually in Nightmare or Hell at MP10), I've usually changed my skills to include the pair of ferrets Companion. Free +10% bonus to gold find, & they do all the fetching for me (with an improved AI too, much better then in the first couple of patches)! :-)

GF gear can be pretty expensive with pickup radius (since most people want them together), but I find that myself with just 6-7 yards is still faster than the ferrets in some cases. They're still nice to have if you'd be ignoring the gold piles otherwise.

I wonder if there's a good way to "scale" the numbers on some of those "Must Have" items back if you have a fairly decent item with the "Reduced Level Requirements"...?
Also, it would be nice if there were a page w/ class specific items; e.g., DH Cloaks. I'm assuming that cloaks are not equivalent to a Chest piece (i.e., Dex & All Resist) & would have other "Must Have" factors such as Max Discipline or Hatred Regeneration (& "Important" if there's a bonus to elemental or hungering arrow damage, etc.) |

Level reduction items are pretty much the only ones that sell for me, except a nice 1H 980 DPS sword with LoH, steal, main stat + vit & socket which went for a lowly 1.5m lol.
but now ive started to mule quite a few level reduction items in case PVP ever happens.... |

@ninjax Do you expect PvP to include level capped duels? It seems like they would include a restriction on reduced-level items or it would mostly defeat the purpose of having level-capped duels.

Not sure what to expect :/ like most things with this game expectation leads to disappointment lol

No, they are the names so you can memorize them if you are looking for a certain type of item. For instance, you are wanting some nice rare gloves, well you'll want to keep an eye out for Archon Gauntlets for the best rolls, and maybe Sovereign Braces and Stranglers. But you can safely ignore gloves with other names. |

A reminder that stats on items are now depending on the Monster level instead of the Item level. E.g. Inferno Act III monsters are all level63 monsters, hence all the items, regardless of item level58 (lowest in inferno) or item level63, will have the same chance of rolling level63 affixes. For Act I and Act II, MP1 and above will directly increase the monster level to 63. Hence, the chart is useful to avoid picking certain type (e.g. avoid picking up spirit stones), but if you are farming Monster level 63 and up, you should pick up all item levels. |
