In a recent interview with Polygon Blizzard stated that Diablo 3 is running on unspecified consoles. This does not come as much of a surprise as Blizzard has previously shown interest in developing console ports of the game. However, it is the first time we have received official word that a build of the game already exists that works on non PC platforms. Blizzard executive Rob Pardo had this say, "We're still kind of exploring it. We've got builds up and running on it. We're hoping to get it far enough along where we can make it an official project."
Although it does guarantee a console port, it does show they have significant interest in it. As someone who has spent a large amount of time playing Diablo 3 on my TV with a PS3 controller I would love to see a console version of Diablo sometime in the future.
Users of the official Diablo 3 forums have been asking if we would see a Christmas Event similar to how World of Warcraft has events for major holidays, Vaneras had this to say:
Personally I feel holiday events don't belong in Diablo, but it would be cool to see something like a bonus exp weekend like other games do.... Now that I think about a a bonus MF/GF weekend could be very cool.
Every year the community devises some tantalizing and delectable delicacies to tempt the taste buds, or procures pen and paper to produce truly imaginative and inspiring holiday greetings. This year, we're asking for submissions for our 2012 Dessert and Holiday Art Program from anyone who's ever been infused with inspiration to create a culinary comestible or artistic abstraction based on the Diablo, StarCraft, or World of Warcraft franchises. We'll be collecting your submissions and showcasing some of your best work on a gallery that will be featured on the official Blizzard Facebook page until January 4, 2013.
Share your passion, talent, and holiday wishes by submitting here.
