Your Followers... weapon?

Hi everyone I've not met, recently joined and getting more involved.

Simple question:
What follower & what weapon & why?

For my DH's Templar, it's Sky Spitter. Reasonable damage and other attrib's and I love weapons with visual proc's on my followers. Smite has cool lightening beam from the gods!

I sometimes use Schaeferss Hammer on my barb's enchantress for the awesome lightening effect + %life is nice :D

Feel free to add me on US server for low-mid key hunting or other runs! I'm London,UK based so timing may be out ;]

Will add you @ninjax and maybe our timeframe will match as I'm GMT-1 though my toons on US servers aren't that great and gold is around 3m atm as I only recently switched to US.
If only I had known from the beginning that there is no big difference in latency for me now :(

Wow, must be nice to be able to supply your follower w/ a legendary weapon & his own Hellfire ring...! :) My followers are all still using rare or magic weapons (you can see their equipment directly via the Diablo III Profile link). I usually use the Templar since I often want a tank between me & my enemies, & I like having him around to save my butt with his Guardian ability...

They are reasonably crap legendaries that I don't think I'd be able to sell so would likely brimstone and are otherwise taking up room in my stash. I like to use stuff I find as much as I can, so if my char isn't going too, I happily give them to the follower!

@h311o no problem, I've never sold anything decent so I'm really poor myself. Planning to spend my "life savings" on a Mempo for the DH so I have a bit more survivability :)

@eastdragon42 - The strength hellfire is from my barb. When I'm not playing him I dump it in the stash so my DH's follower can use it to give me that EXP gain and the stats are actually not bad for follower i think!

Oh the Oculus you mean, I'd actually forgot about that lol.

It's on loan from a friend on strict instructions not to sell. Primary stat for my followers is always MF, then survivability. I care least about damage, specially on my Templar as he is just a tank for DH to mow everything down that's hitting him. .. so the Oculus fits the bill but isn't mine to sell!

Been playing with the Buriza-Do Kyanon on my Scoundrel and just went to the Templar equipped with an 18% chance to freeze Azurewrath. So, 1.6 APS and some +Attack speed jewelery .. will see how that works. Only played with it a few minutes though.

For MP10 runs, Scoundrel with the Buriza and a Star of Azkaranth with additional freeze. The freeze works!

For regular MP3 farming, Templar with G/F and M/F gear that consists of a Sunkeeper and a Puzzle Ring.

Both should be accurate on my wizard's profile currently.

For my Barb I run the Enchantress with a Maximus (demon with fire chain), and for my DH she's followed by the Scoundrel with a Manticore.

Last night I bought a Sun Keeper for Templar and The Grand Vizier for Enchantress. I like to have some MF on all the follower spots & picked these up cheap. On char's I'm using Templar he's more there more to absorb some damage and distract mobs so lower DPS is fine by me.

I use the Scoundrel for the crit chance boost and I've found the best weapon in the game for him is Hellrack. Followers aren't capable of any serious damage on higher difficulties so you want a good support character, Hellrack's ability to temporarily stop enemies from being able to move is invaluable.

@tsukiyomi Have you tried Buriza-Do Kyanon? With the ability that allows him to shoot 3 bolts at a time, even at only 7.9% Freeze chance he freezes a lot of enemies albeit at no damage if you can keep him alive. I picked that tip up from @Khan. He goes one step further and adds freeze on his amulet too. I'm thinking about investing my small pile of Gold in a high freeze % gear for him since they will be a one-time investments and good for as long as D3 is around.

Edit: Plus it has piercing so he gets multiple chances to freeze with mobs.

Yeah, he does almost no damage but he freezes like a madman.

It's @Khan, he takes everything in the game (possibly life too) one step further.

I've also seen some people not teach the Scoundrel not all of his skills to that he focuses more on the multishot attack to something not entirely sure which ones are taught and which ones aren't, but I know some people do it.

Ooo, I'll have to give that a shot.

@NightCrawler9 Hey, you know me pretty well. Train hard/play hard/buy stuff that makes you happy/always find a better way to do something and tell everyone about it because your level of happiness should be available to all if they want to work as hard to get it.

I am waaaay too OCD to let my Scoundrel's portrait just keep shining in the corner telling me he has skills to learn. Having slightly fewer freezing multishots out of him is well worth my mental tick.

Where does Buriza-Do Kyanon drop?

Buriza also does 2.7x damage 25% of the time. Or wait...

As if we didn't all already have enough of Act 3, You'll find mlvl 42+ monsters starting Nightmare Act 3. Theoretically, you're best off playing Sky Crown Battlements to around Rakkis Crossing if you're specifically looking for a Buriza.

Very low end ones seem to start at around 3M. Hmm, crap.

@ninjax The bid prices go far lower than the buyouts. I think the disconnect for Buriza's is almost as large as any item on the AH. There's probably a chance for low-end flipping in there somewhere, but it's a pretty low velocity item, overall.

cheers! I'll try snipe something.

On the templar freeze side I just had an Azurewrath drop with 10% freeze so going to give that a whirl as well.

Dragging up old thread but I've never used scoundrel before until playing my new Monk (all self finds!) recently.

I randomly dropped a crappy blue bow when i was playing through Normal on him that had cold damage and loved it. Everything turns blue.

What's the difference to have cold damage on a weapon to the "chance to freeze" proc on some items?.

I use a 15% Azurewrath with maxed out IAS on my Enchantress, when I face a boss one on one, she freezes him 70-80% of the time
