I use a 15% Azurewrath with maxed out IAS on my Enchantress, when I face a boss one on one, she freezes him 70-80% of the time

Yes.. but cold damage freezes every time, perhaps I'm missing something :)

@ninjax The chill effect procs 100% of the time. Both Azurewrath and Buriza are already cold damage, so Enchantress and Templar with an Azurewrath chill 100% of the time and freeze up to 15% of the time. Any single target skill from a follower likely has a 1.0 proc coefficient so the chance to freeze is WYSIWYG.

In theory, though I haven't tried it, an alternative if you just want the chill effect is a SoJ and black weapon. This would allow you to run a Windforce with chill and chance to Knockback on you Scoundrel. I don't like knockback for melee characters, but it's not necessarily a bad thing for a DH.

The Enchantress could run Butcher's Sickle, though I would prefer a Maximus over Chill and/or Freeze, personally.

it chills them which in practice means slow, the freeze immobilizes them

Whats also important is that if you're running Wizard with Cold Blooded as a passive, you get an additional 20% damage if the target is chilled or frozen. Additionally, if you're a DH and are using Cull The Weak you get an additional 15% damage to chilled enemies.

Wow, when I last posted in this thread in Dec 2012, none of my followers had legendary items...now, almost all of them do..! :-)

Primarily using the Enchantress at the moment for her Attack Speed bonus & immense Magic/Gold find I have with her, since she has both a Grand Vizier staff & a Traveler's Pledge amulet.

Haven't purchased a Buriza for my Scoundrel yet, as they're still way too expensive IMHO, but he has a nice rare 925.8 DPS cold crossbow to at least chill enemies (& he's got my original Hellfire ring too). He has the lowest gold/magic find of all my followers, so I usually only use him when I really need his chilling ability for crowd control.

Templar is rarely used now--read too much on the forums saying that the Enchantress & Scoundrel's attack speed & crit chance bonuses, respectively, were too good to pass up--but he's equipped with a Sun Keeper mace, a Mara's Kaleidoscope amulet, & another Hellfire ring.

As I've never really had magic find gear, all three followers are stacked w/ either that or gold find gear...

At Hardcore, Enchantress with Maximus is a true life saver.

Ever since I started using the new Rapid Fire build, I've revived my use of the Templar for his Hatred regeneration skill. Equipped him with an Azurewrath and Star of Azkaranth as well for help freezing enemies. Miss the gold/magic find, but the crowd control is definitely nice.

On a side note--has anyone ever tried selling Follower focuses/tokens/relics on the AH? i.e., is there a market for really good follower items? Just wondering if anyone's had any luck selling such stuff, as recently I've come across several fairly good ones...

I had a ton of luck flipping follower items in the past. Enchantress items seemed to be the most expensive, and the most often underpriced. I'd do a simple search for INT and VIT, and then buyout and relist. Made 1-2m at a time on those.

Not sure how active the market is anymore.

I sold quite a few good items at Hardcore pre 1.08. 1m - 5m worth.
Haven't really tried selling after 1.08 since most players would be playing coop. I did keep a few food one in the stash just in case one day I need them.

I have pretty much had no luck selling follower items.
So either the market on EU is not really good, or I just don't know a good item from a bad one. :)
