Treasure hunt sounds awesome, Have a bunch of micro contests, where each treasure hunt gets three 'winners' who then compete for the item dropped. Sounds so fun.

If you do decide to go with a treasure hunt, I suggest using the ingredients to the staff as the Legendary markers, if you decide to go that route.

Losing one of those due to disconnection would hurt much less than actually losing the legendary that is earmarked for the prize.
