It could be construed as theft on their part if they do not.

So this duper approached me and said he dupe over 500b in a few minutes, and offered me 50b if I help him keep the 500b in view of possible forthcoming ban. But I have to return 450 to him when he log on from another IP/ account. Should I accept it?

I wouldn't risk it.

All gold trades have been dissabled for this reason.

Yea I told him D3 is a loot-find game. If I have excess gold to buy all the GG items I would have no more incentive to play. He agreed and expressed regrets for what he had done.

They are removing the gold, they are just not resetting player progress.

I was speaking to Lylirra and was told that the Blizzard hack team is working over night and they plan on having the auction house back up early tomorrow. Hopefully it all goes smoothly!

I haven't the faintest clue as to what's going to happen with market prices on anything. As mentioned in one thread, when Gold is free, the cost of an item doesn't matter anymore. Everyone's valuation of items, though, is going to be completely messed up. The market is going to be crazy when the AH opens again.

How much Gold or Gems got transferred to different accounts before the exploiters were suspended/banned? If there's 50 trillion new Gold in the market ready to be sold, there's going to be a very long adjustment period if it ever adjusts at all. Inflation was already going to jump with so many old players coming back at least in the short-term.

Then again, if only a few trillion Gold is going to slip through the nets, then we'll be in for some sticker shock, but nothing totally game breaking. That's probably about two weeks of dedicated goldbots mining away. If thousands of Radiant Star Gems got stuck on those banned accounts before they could offload them, then we have a large population of players that sold off their RS Rubies and RS Emeralds that now need to buy them back.

I cashed out on my non-essential RS gems beofre the AH went down so I don't have any stock on hand to sell. If I did, I'm with @ninjax on selling them after the initial spike and re-buy them early next week.

By the way, does anyone know what the price of RS Gems got up to before the AH went down? It looks like they kept them up about 4 hours longer than they should have. Last I saw they were all between 100 and 130 million. Did they get up into 500 million or even 1 billion range? I have a feeling the 200 million gold sitting in my balance may only be of us for crafting.

This has pretty much crippled any and all new players whose main source of gold for the first few weeks of playing is typically in-game pickup.

I was keeping a close eye 205M for ruby, about 140M for Emerald.

Not sure on others.

If worse comes to worst, that's more than enough gold to craft an amulet for every Brimstone Legendary I find for a very long time. Maybe even one of them will be useful!

Heh. I always say each patch brings us closer to Diablo 2. Diablo 2 has always had rampant duping so I guess this patch just moved us closer to D2, too!

I got home late and I only managed to sell one Radiant Star Ruby that I didn't need and one Radiant Star Topaz that I crafted after buying over 700 flawless square topaz on the GAH. I was almost done making a second Radiant Star topaz when the AH went down.

If the gem prices are still really high tonight, I will finish making it and I will sell it, if not, I will keep it and use it.

I was thankful I bought 20K tomes so I could craft, until I realised I hadn't put them in my stash... so they're stuck in the inaccessible AH. I also have 300K flawless stuck there too. Dammit.

Will need to get my crafting boots on as soon as it's up, hopefully a few moments before I get home :)

Was able to send a stack of tomes and 10k FS Emeralds to my stash before the AH went down. Didn't realize how far 100k tomes goes.

I'm currently crafting at home. 765 Perfect Gems, set it, and FORGET IT!

How long until someone creates a song set to the beat of the gems being crafted?

Sounds like the outage will last at least into the weekend. I fail to understand at this point how this scalpel solution is distinctly better than a sledgehammer server rollback, but they're completely committed at this point. I have a feeling they didn't realize the scope of their undertaking, either.

It's kind of strange playing the game without the AH. I don't have any hope of finding an upgrade to my existing equipment so I'm just ... killing monsters. DHs are pretty much useless for multiplayer so playing my primary right now is entirely pointless without the AH. My Barb is the only character I have geared that can be useful in multiplayer so I guess I'll try playing with him for ... fun. Strange concept. Playing for fun.
