Continuation of DiabloHub

With the Auction House officially shutting down, the original purpose of DiabloHub as D3RMT will no longer be relevant. Huge props to @Anuiran for rebranding it well ahead of time and keeping a lot of non-AH information flowing.

So what do people think the future of DiabloHub holds? If there aren't AH threads available, are people still planning to stick around? I don't think I've ever had a friends list this long for any game. I played only sparingly in multiplayer, but I always had the option, particularly for Ubers. I solo 90% of all games i buy regardless of multiplayer content so DiabloHub definitely increased my enjoyment of Diablo.

I would love to have the community stick around so I can spout at all of you on the mechanics of the game. I do that for practically every game I love, but I never have an outlet for it; my wife thanks you all very much for not having to be the target for these discussions. It's great to read about everyone else's builds. Most of all, though, I love that we have a troll-free internet game community. Maybe that alone is enough to keep people around.

So what do we do to keep the community alive in a post-AH world? What kind of content can we put together to bring new people in and keep people around?

Dont forget that come RoS, from looks of it, that we might have guilds/clans.

@ecocd: Will definitely continue playing the game after the AH shuts down, & will continue to try & post ideas here as well. btw, I for one love the deep analyses you "spout" regarding the game mechanics, especially since you often provide so much of the math behind your logic.

& of course, the I Love Mondays contests will become even more important as a potential source of getting some quick gold, now that there won't be options for flipping or selling off good finds any more. :-) Indeed, perhaps this site could become a hub for players seeking to trade good items they find but can't use, now that there will no longer be an AH available to pawn equipment off on anymore...?

If they fixed up the site just a little and figured out how to make a way so people could post WTB in real time or something, then we would get alot more traffic over d2jsp.

@Anuiran and I have been working on a rather large project for the past few months that should be unveiled prior to the release of the Reaper of Souls expansion. I guess you could say Diablo isn't the only thing getting an expansion.

Always willing and usually able to help for things like this.

@ecocd
Only the info that you'll stick around these forums makes it worth to stay here :)
I love the way you give us insight on the things behind the game and your maths.

And as soon as RoS hits there will be much info needed - atm everybody digs through the data but it's only speculation what will be released.

So background information as well as new builds and maybe a 3rd party "AH" and tests of game mechanics could be worth a ton to attract players.

I for one will still be here though I can't give much at all as my time is limited (work, family, house, RL) and the few spare hours a week I like to play the game lol

That was one crazy video. The part where her eyes are replaced by mouths reminds me of The Corinthian from the Sandman comics...

I will still be here and I am interested in joining a Diablo Hub guild. I will be our guild's potion master. I am still buying and selling potions whenever I get the chance.

I was first drawn to DiabloHub by the contests (I think I won three of them), and I have stayed for the great community and info.

I think things have been slow and quiet at DiabloHub in the past few months, as more players are taking a break from D3. I had pursued Hardcore mode and have been playing actively still, and I conveniently kept my Hardcore diaries and Hardcore GAH at DiabloHub. Since I reached P100 at Hardcore, I think I am done with the diaries thing, and my Hardcore GAH post will become something of the past once the AH is shut down next year.

There will be new things, new info resulting from the expansion, and I will stay for the same reasons.

So is the "what did you find in Loot 2.0" thread going to be more interesting or less interesting? It seems like 75% of the posts could be, "I could use that on my WD, interested in a trade?" since we can't all get those items.

I never traded in D2 or D3 so I'm not familiar with that area. What are/were some of the most effective forum set ups to facilitate trading? One thread by class? One thread by equipment type? One thread per item? One big clusterf*** trading thread? There are a ton of ways to do it and a decade of experience from D2 in how to set it up most effectively. You only get one shot to make a first impression so, in my opinion, the initial implementation of how DiabloHub sets up trading could be the single most important thing to keeping the site up and viable.

Simple. Recreate the auction house and make it searchable by stat.

Add a simple way to screenshot from in game, and you've hit a home run.

I think that thread will be much more interesting since people will be more likely to find items they actually want. Right now with every aspect of the weapon being totally random the odds of it being an amazing item are pretty low. With it being weighted towards what you might need it should make finds much better.

I'd much prefer to have all of my gear be self found if possible. With the exception of my main WD and Barb almost all of my items are self found but most of them aren't exceptional by any measure. I'm hoping Loot 2.0 will change that.

I will still be here. I found this site by searching for "max stats per item" or something like that way back when it was still d3rmt. And stayed for the mounds of info and great community. AH hardly had anything to do with it.

Besides, I need to stay. Who else is going to go sniff out all the new uniques, champs and rares. :P

Btw.... just as a lesson in history. I started off at d3db.com for my achievement needs and forum. Then at some point the forum simply died down. The admins then put a heck of a lot of work into a fancy trading platform, but it was too little too late.

There are already a bunch of websites that emulate the auction house. I feel right now these are the best two out there, and there are a lot more in development.

http://loothunter.net/
http://d3db.com/trade/search

It's a good concept, but I don't see them being that useful. Especially with the Mystic and more bind on account items in the expansion. People will still primarily use d2jsp for trading even though it is just a forum. It has and will continue to be the number one website for trading your items.

There are even some rumors that Blizzard might implement a "trading interface" of their own. Overall I feel there are more important things for DiabloHub to focus on.

I was also surprised to see the lack of interest in D3DB's trading platform.

TBH, I guess that trading forums/sites will get a lot more traffic once ingame AH goes out. Because really at the moment I would rather just put my stuff on ingame AH instead of messing about on different sites. And I suspect most people feel like this.

Whilst i don't post often here it is the d3 forum i regularly frequent. i really enjoy diablohub for the work Anurian does and the info that is here on the site. And the community as whole is great. No trolls or any of that crap makes reading the forums a pleasant experience.

I will defiantly be hanging around here for as long as diablohub is operating.
