I stopped picking these up ages ago, it's not worth the effort. I guess this is Blizzard's "Loot Pinata" strategy at work - they want players to see a bunch of stuff popping out of enemies when they die, even if it's certainly worthless.

THey aren't even worth collecting anymore. The drop rate has stayed pretty much the same - it's probably just your gearset getting better - meaning that you are farming faster/a higher act leading to higher droprates.

People have stopped crafting, and there is no other sink for them to fall into. They're going to freefall until they are close to vendor price (+15%).

I have noticed a slight increase in tome drops during my act 3 runs. Doesn't seem to be too big a increase though, from what I've seen.

Agreed, I thought it would be so useful to grab for selling later on, but I think this patch has definitely increased the drop rates more.

I typically grab them if I'm already picking up items in the area, I just always have a slot in my inventory for them and when I finally get too many I sell them. However, drop rates have definitely increased at least in act 3 so the prices for them aren't as high as they used to be.
